I, Jyso, had noticed a marked decrease in the effectiveness of my rifle from the last sunrise. I had thought this strange until I had reason to consult my magic trainer for advice on how to proceed in my mystical studies.
Upon arriving my magic trainer made some surprising comments:
"Jyzoo, dudez.
I have heard you been thinking your l33t, following the path of technology, heard you been shootin up da place. That's lame dude, Karavan stylie thinking. So I up and nerfed Ranged attacks, so j00 will understand that magick Roxor's. I so pwn you dude."
Suddenly the truth had been revealed to me, that was why it took twice as many shots to kill a puny goari!!
What the Magic trainer told me today...
Re: What the Magic trainer told me today...
Actually they FIXED ammo crafting. Storebought mats should not have been creating the best damage. Find some good mats and you'll see that the dmg can actually be higher now. Ofcourse it'll take twice as many pieces of junk to kill something than stuff made with the best of materials.
You say it was nerfed, but I say it was unnerfed. Now ammo crafters can make ammo over q50 that can deal some serious damage instead of only using the store junk. This benefits ranged fighters because now they can use ammo that is effective against the things they should be killing. Imagine if you were lvl 200 ranged fight and you still had to use q50 ammo because q200 ammo still came out lower dmg. You wouldn't be able to kill for decent xp!
Time to find some resin and oil. I'm gonna show you what a real launcher can do

Nice try Syneris...
however, as a range fighter I am lucky to kill a mob giving me a few hundreds of XP with my pistol/rifle. I use up quite some clips in the progress of achieving that.
As a 40 range fighter, I am lucky to even survive a fight with a QL30 mob...with melee weapons I easily kill ql 60 mobs..
QL 50 Ammunitions deals a srious amount of damage? Please compare this with a QL melee weapon or what a level 40 mage can deal...

Re: What the Magic trainer told me today...
Well its good to see that ranged weapons have been fixed - now we will see alot more ranged fighters.
Re: What the Magic trainer told me today...
I never said ranged fighting was up to par with melee or magic like many wish it to be (especially since it costs much much more!). And if you read my post again you'll see that i said OVER q50. Before the fix, using anything other than store mats produced lower dmg results. You say you're only 40 ranged fight, so you probably dont see the endgame problems that would have caused. Disregarding ranged's inferiority to other combat types, You'd get to a point where the damage you do with bugged ammo (i'm sure at some point even bugged ammo would pass store dmg) would not be effective. If you think you've having problems now, imagine how it would be when you'd still be using the same dmg ammo, because it would have been the best you could get, on mobs of even higher level.
Re: What the Magic trainer told me today...
What would you expect? That you ever will be able to solo mobs higher than your level with a pistol? Sorry if it sounds harsh, but the expression ranged fight includes range, to keep something at range is the clue. Just like with mages. Artillery is not supposed to stand in the front line.tanreh1 wrote:As a 40 range fighter, I am lucky to even survive a fight with a QL30 mob...with melee weapons I easily kill ql 60 mobs..
To mention the balance mage/melee vs. ranged - take a look at the launcher. I'm pretty sure that it is more than equal in damage output over time. But don't try to compare pistol or rifle damage with what melee fighters or mages are capable of, that's like you were comparing a single dagger close combat fighter with a two-handed tank.
Go forth, live, learn, and most important, live together, not alone, for thou will soon discover there being a great danger, a danger thou never seen afore. The existence of Hominkind is at stake. The Kitin are still on the surface, great numbers of them. Who the Kitin are? Your worst nightmare...

Re: What the Magic trainer told me today...
They havent been FIXED. My autolauncher is doing 80 damage. A rocket launcher should never do 80 damage. That is q50 choice ammo. This is so ridiculous.

WHOA. Ranged damage already sucked so bad that noone wanted to use it. And now the damage is less. Now it sucks more. Noone is going to craft weapons or ammo to begin with. As it is the world is mostly unpopulated and they should be using only three servers.
Re: What the Magic trainer told me today...
Well Syneris & Co.,
The post was meant to be funny more then serious, I am only hanging out on the island so do not understand the full breadth of the game.
But to address your comments from the world as a lowly apprentice sees it...
It may well be 'FIXED' but my damage is cut in half (72 to 38) using my rifle.
A fellow tribesman harvested choice materials on the island and got his damage to 52.
I agree that store brought mats should not do more damage then harvested mats, BUT if you think I am going to go out and harvest good quality mats to make all my ammo (that still won't be as effective as before) then you have been standing out in the sun too long.
I am happy to harvest good quality mats for my weapons, it makes sense as a weapon is used frequently, but ammo is a one shot item(well 24, but it goes fast).

Also keep in mind that just because something is made from all choice q50 does not necessarily mean it is made from the best types of material. One type of oil will produce a very different result from another one.
Little effort had gone into crafting good ammo previously because it was badly broken. Better was making worse. Now at least up is up and down is down. There is nothing to say that the numbers won't still be adjusted.
Give it a few days and ammo crafters will have had time to improve the skill and to find out which material gives best results. Foragers will have had time to gather the good materials.
