There definitely was a bit of thumbing of the nose going on in several directions in this post.
I have said this about a dozen times in differing posts in the last week, and DT just re-iterated it. We in the Karavan side are concerned about the same things Scar posted. We talk about it every day.
When it all gets wacky, part of the problem is the differentiation between in-character and out-of-character. The Matis are expectedly Karavan crazy based on our history, our attitude of entitlement that is throughout the lore, etc. A lot of what people are taking as "That person just is being mean" is really a right on in-character statement. Trouble is, when people get heated they have no clear thoughts and everything becomes a personal attack.
If anyone thinks the folks on the karavan side want the game to die, you are sadly mistaken. It is just the opposite.
Edit: Ali said it fairly well too while I was posting. Everyone needs to understand text based communications is the worst form of communications that exists. You have no method to determine posture, tone, facial expression, etc, etc, etc.
Each person when reading a text based communication reads their own emotion into the words that are in front of them. In this process, there are many different factors including the readers state of mind, previous experiences with the other person, external physical factors that all affect the emotion you read into the text.
Add to all of this that we have a very very diverse English speaking community. In one culture a word or phrase means one thing, and in another culture, the word or phrase means something totally different, and you get the perfect formula for explosive fireworks on a text based forum.
If everyone would just relax and think of everything in the best possible way, and if you are not clear on what was intended ask for clarification. It would make everything a bit more happy.

Sorry for the sidetrack, but I'd like to say this is so very untrue. Otherwise we'd not have litereature, poetry, etc. The problem lies in the telling, not the language. Sorry. Pet peeve.
On topic: It's good to know that the kara guilds discuss things like Scar's subjects. Rarely does a day go by that my own guild doesn't end up talking about it.
