Hello, I just had this idea that came into my mind when I was thinking about what could be done to make life on Atys a bit more interesting.
What if it would be possible for a player to slip into the role of a creature, preferably an aggressive one, allowing her/him to do with this creature something out of the ordinary and unexpected by the other players?
Say after you started the game you could decide whether you want to play as usual with your game character or take the role of a Gingo in Imperial Dunes and attack players that don't expect a Gingo to pop up at just that certain spot. Or you pick a Yubo and randomly attack people faking you would be infected with rabies. Or you team up with some friends, become a ravaging Zerx horde and gate-crush into and outpost battle that is just going on at the same time.
This was just a quick idea of mine and not very well thought-out I admit. There are probably many things that have to be taken into consideration to avoid abuse. Still I like this idea and I'd like to hear what other people think of it. I have not really searched if this has been posted and discussed in this forum before, so please forgive in case it appeared already as such.

Player becomes monster!
Re: Player becomes monster!
sounds like ye got a nasty case of goo!
Re: Player becomes monster!
Yes, that sounds like shaman spells or something like that. But SoR will never go in that way.
Re: Player becomes monster!
If I remember correctly, wasn't R2 supposed to allow you to "incarnate" an NPC or mob?

Abulafia, remember that kincher that chased you on Sunday? Heehee. Uh-huh
No! No, it wasn't me! <points at Neva>
I was that kipee looking over your shoulder the other day when you were trying to dig. I blame all that gas in the area for losing my voice

What I remember is that you as gamemaster can spawn monsters depending on the strength of the group that plays your adventure. Not sure if you can directly control them though.bluefve wrote:If I remember correctly, wasn't R2 supposed to allow you to "incarnate" an NPC or mob?
I passed some Goo fields yesterday and possibly inhaled some fumes there, thats true. I still like the idea though. It's most likely nothing you would write down on the back of the game box as a feature, but certainly also nothing that would make the game a failure.

In the Ring Alpha, you can already control mobs, bosses or NPCs directly. You just have to click on it and then on the "control NPC" icon, and then the mob/NPC will follow you and do everything you do (as a DM, you are invisible to the players). If this is a NPC, a special chat window is also available to you: everything you write in there is said by the NPC.jlemmo wrote:What I remember is that you as gamemaster can spawn monsters depending on the strength of the group that plays your adventure.
