Help i'm new

Post by everith »

Hello i know you've probably seen this thread a MILLION times... but i couldn't find one that answered all my questions... i just started playing... i am stuck on character creation.
as i have never played this game before i was wondering if someone could explain the workings of the lvling system. When i'm creating a character it shows the 3 actions. I was thinking of making all 3 in warrior and just being a mellee. or i was thinking of taking all magic to be a healer. OR i was thinking about taking 2 in fighting and 1 in magic to HOPEFULLY in later lvls be a tank/healer sorta a paladin type thing. I was wondering YOUR views on these choices being veterans of the game.

Any feedback would be loved and thank you in advance for your time.

Best to take one magic, one forage, and one craft for starter packs, as melee is a "free" skill - all the fight starter pack gives you is a dagger, and you can get fight exp from punching a yubo.

You can level any and all skills without penalty. So you could be both a melee and healer, and anything else you want.

my thoughts are similar take magic and harvest, never been much of a crafter but if it apeals to you then i would recomend it, you can lvl as many or as little of the different branches as you like, for example my char is a two handed axe meleer, elemental magic user, healer and desert forager, any combination of skills is possible, pick whatever you want now. i picked melee but can always start something new. one of the great things in ryzom, hope that helped if you are in game feel free to ask me questions.
oh and welcome to ryzom, enjoy :)

Edit:
healers are usful but do whatever you fancy, you can always pick up a new skill to fit in with teams, i just recomend starting your char and comming to the main lands where you can get more teams and help

More than enough elemental (offensive, i.e. Acid Damage) magicians...

Healers and defensive afflictionists always welcome in a team, in my experience...

Ranged fighters are uncommon...

Melee is easier to level than magic at early levels...

But do what you like, as Kye said. :)

Welcome to Atys!

Please keep in mind this isn't a level-based game. It's a skill-based game, and unlike most other games you've played, you can be EVERYTHING all at once in this game. You can learn to be a great healer, fighter, crafter, and lover all with one character, regardless of sex, race, and allegiance.

This community shines brightest when welcoming and nurturing its newbies. Please do not hesitate to ask lots of questions here and in-game.

Best regards and warmest welcome,
