dont want to bore you all with repetition, but similar probs here; no access viol errors (and ive an x900 pro) but since the patch game takes several loads to start up.

Either the pc freezes during loading screen or within seconds of entering the game. Also had one lockup on character select screen.

And every crash means a reboot. Which means last night took 30 mins just to start the game and tonight i gave up after nearly an hour !

Nothing wrong with my 'pute: pretty much cutting edge and I housekeep regularly. As has been mentioned already all these problems SINCE THE LAST PATCH!! And Ive been playing for several hrs a day since the launch with absolutely no problems whatssoever, not even much in the way of lag.

Normally i wouldnt bother posting at this hour when Ive had a long day (and more work 2morrow) but I love this darn game!

I have given up trying to play the game in Direct X because it keeps crashing with my ATI Radeon card, so I am forced to play in OpenGL (for now).

The OpenGL appears to run better, although the games does not resize to fit my monitor leaving about 5mm's of the game off screen, around the edges.

Crashes like before. :(
In a 2-3 month period of time I had replaced all of my hardware. It was only after I bought a new mainboard and a new cpu. I didn't have a single crash since (for over a month now!). It doesn't matter if you have a 6 month old or a 10 year old computer sytem, if there is anything wrong with your hardware your game will crash regulary.
I can't help with raadon type of gfx cards, I'm using a geforce.

But I can relate to those who are crashing regulary .. its really a pain. And you prolly know its gonne cost ya to play the game decently.

i dont belive the crashes are down to hardware, i can play 10-20 other Pc (Doom3 and Far cry included) games on my system with NO crash's. Ryzom has been the only game ive come across that can cause access violations, reboots and graphic coruptions. I' ve even sent my graphics card back to the manufaucter, they tested it with no fault found.

The problem is game based. the game is cutting edge and i will put up with the problems. Which i hope the devs fix, Ryzom is a great game with so much potential.

I have a GF6800u from Gainward, what ever you do dont buy a gainward the support is rubbish, the card come with an old bios ????

Obviously this problem cant be peoples computers, or graphics cards, it must be a server issue. Raedon users its not your cards, as i use a gforce mx440 and it crashes for me. Its not cpu or memory problems, as i have just upgraded my comp this last few days to an amd sempron 3100+ and 1gb of ddr ram and im crashing too. It says its trying to write to a file which it doesnt have proper access to, which i would say means the program is probably not writing save files in the right place. Or maybe its trying to write in protected files. But for so many of us to all be getting this problem, it has to be alot more than our computers. As we all have diff comps and diff cards/ram/cpu's

mrozzy wrote:Well, I had my share of crashes back in beta, and it took me months to figure out where they came from.

I can tell you this: 99,9% of the crashes are related to malfunctions of your own computer system. Games like this ask a lot of a computer, if something isn't working 100% fine it can happen that a game like this crashes.

Acces violations are r/w errors to the memory. This can be caused by:

- Bad memory blocks
- Bad sectors on your harddisk
- Harddisk overheating
- CPU problems (overheating, general cpu faults)
- Errors in the FSB communication
- Insufficiant power supply
- Electric power fluctuations
- Memory from different brands and/or different speed

Check out your system and replace parts if needed, in most of the cases the problem will be solved.

PS: I reduced the amount of crashes (and even bluescreens) from about one every 3-10 min to 0 in 1 month.

This is so very very very true.
More tips:

Defrag before you install anything especially updates and drivers etc. If you don't your hard drive has to look all over the place for little bits of files to piece them back together. With mmorpgs it seems as though you have to defrag more often. I don't know why this is but I am now down to defragging once a week or I get problems and slowdowns.

Whilst virus checkers can save you the hassle of getting virus' whilst downloading, don't forget that sometimes they can interfere when installing updates, games, drivers etc. I always turn mine off for this. (even ms will advise you to turn off your virus checker during installation of their updates)

One thing I would like to add to the list above would be graphics aperture. Having it larger than 128mb isn't always the best way to get the best performance out of your video card. If you have it any higher than 128mb and experience any problems at all then lower it. (yes I learned my lesson the hard way.)

Video fan. Is it doing it's job. Now radeon seem to have a problem with faulty video fans on some cards so check that yours is going around fast enough to keep your video cool during demanding games such as mmorpg's. I recently had a problem with my ati vid fan and had to buy a new one. It simply just was not doing the job. I was rebooting, freezing all sorts of problems whilst trying to play one single game. (daoc another mmorpg it seemed fine in everything else) I have had two friends with the exact same problem so it's a good idea to check. :)

I have a radeon 9600xt and I don't crash at all, whatsoever. If it was a server issue then we would all be getting it, not just a certain group of people. It sounds to me like people with older graphics cards that doesn't seem to be coping.
Also your computer could be the newest computer in the world and if it's not set up right you will have all sorts of problems. The littlest bios tweaks can make a world of difference so get advice from your manufacturers. :)

seriously, looking towards hardware is not the way to go. obviously all of us cant be using the same hardware and if you read the access violation message it clearly says its is trying to write to a virtual address that it doesnt have proper access to which tells me its a game problem and nothing to do with our comps i had not 1 crash for the first day i played and half the second day and the whole time i played in beta had no crashes then the new patch got added yesterday and i crash every 10 mins

If it was working before the patch & does not work properly after the patch then I can tell you what to do with your oh so techie explanations.
Try common sense for a change.
Now I cannot transfer or receive items from my game colleagues, only since the patch. Bring in the nuclear physicists, They'll have the answer.
