Re: What should I do? (new guy)
There's area based chat channels (Around, Region), and worldwide chat channels (Team, Guild). You can also talk privately to a single player by sending them a tell (via contact list or via typing /tell Name message in chat). Is there an in game chat room that people hang out in like on EVE online, or just area based chat rooms?
As for things to do, there's plenty, but I'm minutes away from bed so I can't list them atm...one thing though, do you roleplay? If not, that's fine, plenty don't. But plenty do, too, and if you RP that's a whole 'nother realm of activities.
Yrkanis, capital of the Matis (though any race can go there if they can catch a trek to it and buy a teleport ticket). It's usually pretty well-populated.what are some big hangouts that people hang out at (in game

Regarding what to do or where to hang out, Each race has a starting "island" where you learn the rudiments of the game.
After you leave there, your destination will be the capital city of the race you have chosen. I will use Fyros (Desert Lands) and Kami (religion) as an example. There are two religions Kami and Karavan.
In that city you will find a teleport system, the Kami one looks like a long rotating sculpture, with a couple of little balck dudes with orange hair/feathers (tm ).
You can only use these teleports after achieving "Fame" of 30. You can aquire this fame by doing missions, that will be given yo you by the little balck dudes with orange hair/feathers (tm ).
After doing these missions, you will be allowed to choose to become a kami follower, to do this involves a series of short quests and upon successful completion, you can use the TP system, but you have to buy your tickets, which are pretty expensive.
To get from one city/town/country to another, you must physically have been to that destination country and purchased a TP Ticket there.
A cheap-ish way to travel is by death, if you have a "Spawn Point" at the destination, you can choose to respawn there.
People here are extremly helpful, if you have a query and see someone near you that you figure might have the answer you require, right-click on them and choose "Talk" to open a conversation with them.
Regarding "hanging out" in a popular place, TBH you will pretty much be confined to your starting city for a good while.
But I recommend joining a guild, put a post on the forum stating your race/skills/hours of play (USA or Euro)/expectations and you will get lots of appropriate offers.
If you choose Fyros, send a /tell to Valda (me) anytime after 9 pm GMT and I will help you get started.
Enjoy the game and the people you meet here, its not like most other MMORPG's

my idea
klients is used for live problem solving but also for a nice chat
there are enough people in the main capital of your race to hang or team with as you lvl higher your 'hang' could change
good luck and enjoy

The newbie island has very few people on it so you will not find anybody to socialize with there. Leave the island as soon as you get comfortable with the controls and combat etc. It is suggested to leave when you get a combat lvl of 20 but you can leave whenever you want.desertt wrote:my idea

Welcome to Atys, fooltime!
The game essentially revolves around increasing your skills in various skill trees, and socialization. You can choose to be a crafter, a harvester, a fighter, or a magic-user, or any combination therein. Within each of the 4 trees are many (many) branches of specialization. You can become a Master Two-Handed Axe user and/or the best Healer you can be and/or a Master Forager within the Desert. There are (reportedly) 11,000+ levels to be had among all the trees, and you gain every single one of the if you want. Experiment and explore the trees, find what's fun for you, and go for it.
Social outlets are limited to the regional channels, guild/team channels, and the klients.exe application. There are live-events run by the GMs. This past Saturday and Sunday we had two events -- one purely social gathering and one adventure (everyone got together to fight the Queen of SomethingSomething, a big huge scary monster).
As previously posted in this thread, newbie island is a concept that's come and gone. With low populations, you might not find anyone there. Moreover, there's very little benefit to staying on newbie island for more than a few minutes. Come on over to the mainland, where the capital cities (you'll teleport to your race's capital city automatically when you leave newbie island) are populated with players with whom to group and befriend.
As always, this community shines brightest when welcoming and nurturing its newbies. Please do not hesitate to ask a bajillion questions here and in-game.
Best regards,
