Re: You ugly sand-maggots!
My name is Nillian. I came from humble beginnings, a family of harvesters, who knew nothing of war and strife. Then came the Kitin. My family fled to the Roots and many good people were lost, and many more became broken souls. The first thing I can remember is waking in a strange place, a desert island, with a few people to guide me, and many evil beings strewn across the land. I quickly developed an interest and a skill in the use of magic, borne from the local Kami Master. This inherent ability was soon to save my life, as I encountered many unfriendly beasts around my new home. I trained under these guides for a good while, and met other Homins who helped me on the path to maturity.
One day, the Kami teachers told me of another land, a land filled with hope and new prospects for a good life outside this island. Naturally I took the opportunity in a breath, and after a very disturbing experience filled with bright colours and flashing lights, I found myself here, where I reside to this day, in the Burning Desert.
I continued to train in the ways of magic, and quickly became adept in the art of using the elements, in particular fire, to vanquish my enemies. I rapidly developed a thirst for killing, and found myself slaughtering even peaceful animals. It took me weeks to realise what I was doing, and one day, in a drunken stupor, I emptied the contents of my stomach on the floor. I have never felt so bad, in just over 3 months of having "woken up". I had a change of heart, and devoted myself to healing magics. I helped many Homins overcome mighty foes in epic battles, and have the scars to prove it.
I was taken in by a guild called The Soul, who nurtured my talents in both healing and elemental magic, and provided me with a friendly environment in which to hone my skills. The Soul were fantastic to me, and I thank them all from the bottom of my heart. But it has come time to move on, to use my skills for personal gain, racial gain, and for the good of the Kami and their followers! Time to stop prevaricating and start helping my fellow Homins.
And so, I find myself asking for acceptance with The Samsara. A guild which I believe will find my talents of use, and will find me a willing and competent (and friendly) addition to their team.
Here's hoping...

Good day to all you Homins !
My name is Sulik and first I would like to thank Kostika as well as all the members of The Samsara for having considered my request for joining the guild !
I'm not a complete noob in the sense that I have already played the game for 3 or 4 months at the beginning of the year with my previous character (MadX)! Then I had to stop during the summer season because of my job... I'm a sailor on a luxury motor yacht. But now has come the dull season, so I'm back in action with a new character (Sulik) ! I started a new one because I wasn't happy with all the choices I had made for my previous one's skills !?!
I want to bring Sulik up to lvl 50 in melee, then seriously concentrate on magic ! At the same time I'm working on his foraging and crafting skills (Amps, 2H swords, and later Light Armor).
Just for the story, I named my character Sulik after a NPC in a role-playing game called "Fallout 2" ! He was a Tribal completely crazy and trigger-happy !!!
Take it easy Homins, and see you all in Atys !

I am Zahan, a scholar of the Zorai. My parents are simple merchants, but they will never understand Alys by staying in safe cities, so I left them to seek my own way.
I seek to learn whatever I can, and I learn fast. I have honour and principles, but I am not adverse to making a little profit with my skills. I'm willing to commit my loyalty to the Samsara if they will have me.
As to how I met Kostika and Jyudas, well , thats a story for another day.

My name is Tyilin, A Zorai.
I have a troubbled past. I had lost many loved ones, i know have known pain and suffereing, yet i have learned to love again, to be overjoyed with happyness and my heart is held by the beautiful Drakfot. I currently have an apartment in fairhaven and i regularly seek knowlage from the tryker elders. I wish that all homin will show respect for one another, thru the undertsnaind of the teaching that the kami bring to us. Although i am not driven by the dapper I would fight for my beliefs. I would stand by my friends and if my dying breath was to protyect the ones i loved. so be it. I have the upmost respect for Jyudas. A homin i have looked up to for some time. He has shown me that although he is part of a guild that lives for the dapper he can see reason in madness. A trait i beleive he has taught me.
I have walked Atys for some time. learning from the kami the art that is magic, I wish to hone my skills with the blade and become a better warrior.
Tell me how to prove myself and I WILL exceeed your expectations. My devotion and my commitment are second to none.

Hello Samsara,
When I started writing my biography I decided to focus at a particular event of my past. I had an intention of keeping it limited to two A4 pages, but when I reached that amount I saw it wasn't finished yet and I had to write some more to reach a conclusion. I hope you will enjoy it as much as I enjoyed writing it and that what I lack in knowledge about the English language is not too apparent.
Because the story is a tad longer then most introductions within this thread, I decided to post it seperately at these forums. You will be able to find it at this link: Mermydae - Night of Orphans.
Thank you for you patience,

Samardnaz, Homin, Citizen of the Desert.
I awoke in a strange desert camp, dressed in nought but rags, and titled "Refugee" by one who called himself "Welcomer". I know not how I arrived here, or where I came from. I'm not even sure of my own name, 'though the Welcomer assures me its Samardnaz. By luck I managed to survive that first day, a day spent running errands for this Welcomer. I spent a moon-cycle in this place, learning fighting and magic skills, earning dapper by digging raw materials out of the ground. Somehow, I don't think this is what I did "before", where ever and when ever "before" was. Eventually I happened upon a skinny little Priest, one of the Kami or so I've been told, who offered to send me to the great lands of my people, the Fyros. I accepted his offer, and found myself in the desert city of Pyr.
. In the cycles since, I've decided that I don't like the city life, and I spend much of my time wandering the deserts honing my survival skills, and occasionally harvesting raw materials to sell in the city for Dapper. I haven't much need for Dapper, at least not yet, but I have acquired some reasonable armour and weapons. I've met many other Homins, and based on what I see in their faces, and in the reflection of my own face in my blade, I must agree that I am indeed of Fyros blood. I've worked side by side with members of all homin races, cooperation seems a requisite skill for survival in this land. I don't understand this talk of war, of gods fighting gods, of Homin killing Homin in the name of their gods. Doesn't seem very smart in light of all the non-homin species that are trying to kill us at every turn. Cooperation, now that I understand.
. I met one called Rashan the other day, he challenged me to prove I have what it takes to be a member of this guild called Samsara, though the comparison of my ruggedly handsome visage to the pale ugliness of a sand maggot makes me question his visual acuity. After pondering the question for many days, even asking others I met about this Rashan character and the guild of Lady Kostika, I decided there might be some benefit to joining with the Samsara, if only to learn what skills this Rashan character might be able to teach me.
. Pondering the question further, however, leads me to wonder "Does Samsara have what it takes to be MY guild?" I guess I'll have to survive Rashan's "personal touch" to find out.
. Consider me an applicant for membership in the Guild Samsara. When you're ready to begin, I can usually be found wandering the desert around Oflovac's Oasis.

When I arrived in Sheng-Wo on Zoraï Island, I immediately started looking for the way to the mainland. I did not, and still do not, see any point to procrastinating on what amounts to a simulation for the initiation and induction of refugees. So I went straight to the Kami Adept and asked for directions. He sent me to a furry little black Kami just outside town, around which paced two huge, white, poorly-proportioned Kami Sentinels. The Sentinels seemed to me vaguely reminiscent of yetins. I asked the little Kami to teleport me to the mainland, and in a moment I was surrounded in color and light, feeling only a sense of disconnection from my body and a feeling of movement on a level I could not comprehend.
Then I was in Zora. Another little black Kami, standing next to a spinning, sparkling monument, waved at me. I ignored it, taking a few tentative steps forward as I waited for lingering dizziness caused by the teleport to fade. I almost collided with a female Zoraï. She looked up at me in surprise, seeming to have been lost in thought. She was short and blue. Of course, all Zoraï are blue, but this one particularly so: her hair was blue, and blue tattoos adorned her mask. Like me, she was wearing refugee clothes, but hers looked like they hadn't been worn for a while.
"Greetings," she said in a soft voice. "Did you just arrive?"
I nodded. She seemed to brighten slightly, and introduced herself as Umakai. Then she told me to go to the Karavan teleporter just outside the city and wait there. A moment later, she disappeared. I guess she teleported. So I went on past the stable and out of Zora. The Karavan machines were just visible past the morning mist that was slowly rolling through the trees. A dark grey kite hovered over the machines, the Karavan, and their worshippers that paced around them, seeming to glower downward as its green beam swept back and forth.
As I approached, I noticed a slightly acrid smell. The vegetation beneath my feet seemed a bit brittle as well. None of it really bothered me though, and I waited there patiently and curiously until a tall male Zoraï showed up. At about the same time, I heard Umakai's voice in my mind.
"Accept the items and dappers Sinah gives you. I am leaving. I hope my things will be of use to you."
Sinah, as his name apparently was, gave me a set of jewelry, a sword I can't yet use, and a pouch of dappers containing four hundred thousand and a map. The map was the most interesting to me, as it already had some markings and notations on it, including some detailed routes between continents. The upper part of the map, colored light yellowish brown to indicate desert, attracted my eye. The route between the Witherings and the Burning Desert seemed to be the easiest, while the route through Bounty Beaches in the lake lands was sparsely marked except for warnings.
Over the next couple of days, I began training, mostly melee with a bit of harvesting and crafting when I could. Melee seemed easy, and in little time I was told by the Fighter Trainer that I had attained the title of Novice Warrior. Unimpressive, but at least it's some progress.
I became aware of guilds, noticing the people who passed through Zora and their affiliations. I learned several names: Atys Paladins, Infinity, Merchants of the Void, OmegaV, Eleytheria, and others I've since forgotten. I talked to someone from Atys Paladins once, but they didn't quite suit me.
I also heard of the Samsara, a mostly Fyros guild based in the desert. Mercenaries, driven by wealth and glory. With some kind of initial bootcamp. Now that sounded more like it. So I started making plans to journey to the desert. I studied my map carefully, asked the local messengers and patrollers about the route I intended to take, and bought a shield (Fyros, even) for a little added protection.
That shield became a symbol of my goal as I made the journey. Knot of Dementia was fairly easy, though I quickly learned to keep aware of my surroundings and observe the movements of herbivores to see where safe spots might be. Just north of Desertstock I had to stop for a while and wait for some tall furry black creatures to move out of the way. They almost reminded me of the little Kami in Zora, and the one at Sheng-Wo. After I was past them I waited again at the ramp to the Great Outback. For hours. It was almost nightfall by the time I gave up and returned to the portal to the south, which, according to the map, went to a Prime Roots region called Underspring. I'd have to cross that region to reach a portal to Dunes of Exile. The notes on the map warned that it was a potentially difficult region to sneak through, with Kitin patrols on the east side.
When I entered Underspring, I saw the patrols, and tried the west side. I learned that tyranchas are almost blind, so I started to stick close to them when trying to avoid worse things. I tried many times, almost every time something knocking me out from behind. Usually vorax, hence my newfound hatred of them. I thank Atys for allowing me to return to the south portal each of the many times I died. Eventually I did make it to the north portal. The last stretch was clear of aggressives, so there was only meters left between me and the desert I intended to call my new home.
I had contacted Rashan while I was in Underspring, telling him I was a Zoraï coming to the desert and seeking the Samsara. The run eastward from Dunes of Exile to Imperial Dunes was easy, and I got a couple of teleport tickets along the way. Just south of Pyr, I succumbed to a small and scrawny but vigorous gingo. But I would not be stopped now, not this close to my destination, and certainly not by a small, ugly canine. I told Rashan where I had fallen and he soon came to my aid. Once I was up, he asked if it was about a book he had borrowed in Zora. I laughed slightly, assuring him it wasn't. We walked the rest of the way to Cerakos Gate. I hesitated slightly at seeing the fires, then stepped between them carefully. At the Kami teleporter, Rashan told me more about the Samsara, and I joined as a recruit.
Now, I am wondering, just how much do I let you all know about me? I think it may be more...fun...to save some things for later, rather than open myself and reveal everything at once. So I will let you know a few things now, but keep plenty for later discovery...
I am atheist. I believe the Kami and Karavan are just as misguided as the homins who follow them. Jena and Ma'Duk were both born from someone's mind, somewhere along the line. The Kami have great magic, and the Karavan great technology, each of which could have effects which may seem to us homins divine in nature. The abilities to teleport and respawn after death come from Atys itself. The Kami and Karavan merely have control over these powers, a level of control homins have not yet learned.
I have no qualms about killing yubos. The spirit with which they fight, despite their small size, is inspiring to me.
I was born in the old lands, and I have not had a family for as long as I can remember. I suppose they died when I was very young. How I survived is a mystery to me. I wandered, mostly in semidesert regions (hence my partiality to desert and dislike of jungle), and eventually I met a caravan of refugees heading to the new lands. I followed them to Zoraï Island...

Re: You ugly sand-maggots!
Early morning in the desert lands of Fyros is a beatyfull thing. Sun rises in the distance as the dew residues, tears of the desert, start to shine as if they were diamonds spilled over the dunes. Blankett of stars begin to fade away making room for yet another day. In the distance u hear Timari cry's, calling out for each others... A small figure approaches the oasis on foot, heading towards the camp on the shores of a small lake hiding beneath the trees. Guards haven't noticed him yet, night in the desert was long and cold and they are tired. A man comes out of the tent and lights a cigarette looking towards the newcomer in the distance as he mumble's to himself - Finally he's here... He starts walking towards the guards and tosses the burned out matchstick away. The two guards take notice of him and stand upstraight as he comes near.
Guards -"Good morning captain Rashan sir."
Rashan -"Good morning men." takes out the the ciggarete from the corner of his mouth and takes a deep breath of the morning -"So, how was the night? Anything to report?"
Guard 1 -"Tonight was calm sir, and might I add very cold. Probably the reason why they didn't come, sir."
Guard 2 -"We got a visitor sir, comming in from the east" he says as he tips his spear ever so sligthly towards the morning sun and the nearing stranger.
Guard 1 -" Is that him sir? The new recruit?"
Rashan -"Judging by the size of him, yes"
Guard 1 -"The size of him sir?" asks the guard as he takes a better look at the small figure steadilly approaching -"Is he a tryker?"
Rashan nods and slowly rises his head, looking at the blue skye and taking another smoke. A few more stars can be seen, fading away in the sunrays.
Guard 2 -"Why is he on foot sir? You think he ran into some trouble last night?"
Rashan -"Trykers ussualy don't ride mounts. Unless they are forced too of course"
Guard 2 -"You're saying he crossed the desert on foot sir? But that's madness?!"
Captain lowers his head and looks toward the recruit. He's almost here, just crossing the last dune.
Rashan -"Depends..."
Newcomer is upon them and the guard put's his question on hold and stands on attention. He looks down at him and notices how small the person is, like a child compared to himself. Raged and dusty clothes hang from his shoulders, making him look even smaller then he might be. A scarf is wraped around his head and only two eyes shine towards the three men standing in front of him. As the guard takes a closer look, he notices that those cannot be the eyes of a child. He's seen eyes like that before, in captain Rashan's, in his fellow comrades. Eyes that have suffered, that have seen tragedy, eyes that have seen and felt the terror of kitins. But it's not fear that they reflect, they're glow is cold, determined, proud ... they speak of will stronger then steel, spirit brighter then the sun of Atys, they shout REBELLION and they oppose... He's own eyes, they bare the same mark, he knows...
Tryker takes of his scarf and his black hair shines in the sun. Glimps of a smile comes over his face but he remains serious.
"Name is Bumple," he bows -" Serpent Knight of Crystabelle...at your service."
