Apparently it has something to do with the Directx9 and Direct3d api's, so switching to OpenGl mode has solved the problem for many... others however (like poor Mez) are still getting lock ups and it certianly needs to be addressed. This coding games for specific cards thing is getting way out of hand....

Amen. So far on my laptop the game has been running now for about an hour. Perhaps a record. Ive been just hanging out near the gate to YRK 1 harvesting a bit..... Ive had the game twice have the please wait window up for about 10-20 seconds for a lag burst I assume. Besides that it has been fine so far.

I just called me other 2 friends and told them to try the Open GL thing when they get home....hopefully it continues to work for us until Nevrax gets a proper fix. If they dont have thier main guys working on this they are asking for trouble.

New players buying the game having to experience constant crashes and lockups will not get them favorable word of mouth. Other game launches like this have always had lag issues but to have constant lockup issues because of a certain card set is not good at all.

Glad the OpenGL seems to be working out for you so far. With any luck, the problem with the Direct3D will get sorted out eventually. I just wanted to mention one other thing. Several people have posted that they had lockup problems and had tried different drivers with no luck. Somone else recommended that they re-install DirectX each time they install a new video driver and this seemed to solve the problem for some folks. Also, I just installed Tribes: Vengeance last night and it came with DirectX 9.0c. I wasn't aware that a new release of DirectX had been released. You may want to download that and give it a try with Direct3D mode too. I personally have not tried 9.0c with Ryzom yet so try it at your own risk. I don't see why it would be a problem but you never know.

I can't agree with you Tekkor, since they have applied mini patch I don't have lad whatsoever, before like every night around 12AM-1AM there was serious lag spikes when server just stalled for a few minutes. Now things have improved a bit... And they are still working on the lag issues wich will be fixed in the next patch, at least that's what they promise.

Concerning Radeon cards - I haven't had any problems with my X800Pro. Runs great, I had Radeon 9800XT before and it was running pretty good too. There might be an issues with older ATI cards. From what you have listed all those Radeon cards you've listed are DirectX 8 cards which don't have very good rates working with pixel and vortex shaders which are used in the game pretty much. If you want to try something, go to game configuration before you start the game and disable pixel and vortex shaders at least, put everything on Low, that's what these cards supposed to handle. Your cards are not meant to be handling vortex and pixel shaders with high settings, even to play with normal settings on you need at least Radeon 9600XT. So, consider yourself, your video cards are just simply not powerfull enough to play this game with high or normal settings. Turn everything to Low and you willbe alriight..
