A Newbie needing a little help

Hello all and well met! My names Samli and I'm fairly new to Ryzom. I did play in Beta but once the game went live I didn't feel the game was ready for release so I figured I'd come back after some time and see how the game had progressed.

I've been playing for about 5 days now and like what I see. A lot of the problems I had with the game have been fixed. So now I'm wanting to progress and I had a few questions about crafting. If anybody could help me with some answers I'd really appreciate it

1) What's the difference between Medium Quality and the 1st stuff you can train in for armor? weapons? jewelry?

2) Is it worth it to upgrade to Medium Quality stuff?

I guess that's really my only questions at the moment...hehe Any help or advice is greatly appreciated. I look forward to meeting all of you in game and someday hunting with you. Cheers!

Welcome back, SoR is at the beginning of some very turbulent times, but that is no reason to be scared away.

To your question: Medium quality generally just uses more (of the same) materials than the basic quality. This affects the maximum stats you can get on the item (I think) but mostly it affects your crafting xp per item crafted since xp is based on amount of materials used and the quality you are trying to make.
