maturity does wonders for pvp!

I just wanted to say that, thanks to the maturity of our player base, the PvP event was very largely free of the attitudes and childish behavior that can make PvP so unpleasant on so many games.

It's probably a combination of Ryzom not being an uber loot game, as well as it being independent, but this game does attract a more mature player base, all across the board.

We played within the limits of the game, pushing hard and testing boundaries, but maintaining an understanding that we all knew each other, and that we were all fellow Ryzom players. It led to a whole lot of fun for a lot of people, of the quality that can be hard to find online.

It was slightly better during the day today, but I can't really log in normall during the day to take part.

There was still gloating, leetness, bad behaviour and ganking along with poor sportsmanship.

While I do agree that, for the most part, people have been engaging in PvP in the spirit in which it was intended; not taking it personally, trash talking, etc, which does show a level of maturity by the playerbase, I have however seen a lot of aggro pulling. Purposely running into a bunch of kinchers, hitting Invulnerability and dragging them on your opponents definitely does NOT show much maturity, especially when you know they're the first one's to gripe about it when it happens to them. Players who do this should be penalized whether its a temporary ban or whatnot. But purposely giving someone else DP is never cool.

I too was pleased to see people acting mature and having fun. I hope it stays this way so people can see that PvP dose not always have to be a bad thing.

I may be wrong but I thing aggro pulling is an intended part of the PvP in this game. It is not something I would do, but I'm not going to get mad if it is done to me.

I'm finding it all fun (although sometimes stressful), interesting, competitive, and overall friendly. It's a game within the game, with lots of different aspects to it, so most folks should be able to find some facet of it they enjoy if they give it a fair shot. Sure it means I've been fighting against some of my friends on Atys who just happen to subscribe to the Karavan philosophy - but when I'm not in the Ancient Lands I treat them as I always have, and when the dust clears and the episode is over, they'll still be my friends.

Firstly let me say I am not a fan of PvP, generally 'cos I'm crap at it, but I appreciate that it has a place in the game and thus was prepared to give it a looksee.

That enjoyment was down to the players and the spirit it was/is played in. Standing opposite each other nuking, healing, dodging kitin and then chatting to those whom you have killed and in-turn killed you, whilst waiting for a res' or re-spawn.

Thank you everyone for your good spirit, I hope we can all take Ryzom from strength to strength and focus more on the positives not the negatives in future.

A war, particularly a vicious, faith-based religious war is not something you all shake hands after and go back to how things were.

lol, if you hate this sooooo much why were you in there? why not stay outside? why play at all?
I accept a lot of what you say and that it is particularly applicable to RL, so why not put these efforts into real life and escape like the rest of us every now and then into this "virtual" one.
