Episode 2 Poll
Re: Episode 2 Poll
I think it is awesome best enjoyment i have had in ryzom for ages, although i think some people need to concentrate on digging and crafting as there is clearly not enough. I know i am not one to talk but i have said from the start we would be fighting for the kami it would seem a few people have found the lust for battle.

Re: Episode 2 Poll
I've had a great time, digging, healing, a bit of chasing people trying to hit them. I'd say this event caters to a few types:
1) PVPers - go kill people for rewards.
2) non-PVP fighters - do craft missions, protect the diggers, PVPers from kitin.
3) diggers - get in there, get the mats, get nuked, repeat
4) strategists - we could all use some tactics
5) diplomats - argue for peace, we don't have to fight each other
Yes it is quite PVP-biased but I don't think I've seen so many people in the same region, going back for more. The new buildings are cool and it's good to have a new zone, however small. Tough luck it's the desert. Nexus is forest, the lakes have the hottest women and the jungle, er, is the jungle.
I'll see how I feel after a week of it.

Re: Episode 2 Poll
From what I see and what I hear, it doesnt really sound like this is going to be too much fun, but then again that just my oppinion, I quit playing Eve, becuase of being ambushed all the time, by the red Faction, Wasnt fun,
I really like being able to choice whether I fight or not. Will I still be allowed that option??

Re: Episode 2 Poll
Good things and bad things here. I do like the idea of building something, harvesters needing to get the materials, crafters to craft it, fighters to protect them etc (I understand there were previous events like this, but I wasn't around back then). There was a story leading up to it and there's a chance to effect the world. There's room for players of all levels (there are kincher-free areas to harvest up to q100 shell, which so far the PvPers have mostly ignored).
Bad things; that you don't get honours points by fighting kitin, that the camp guards attack homins of the opposite faction on sight, and that it's made impossible to work together with homins of the other faction. I don't mind that it's possible to fight those of the opposing faction, but I don't like being forced to do it.
I would've liked some more threat from the kitin too, I remember the Karavan saying something about them being able to call in reinforcements, and was looking forward to increasing amounts of kitin the longer we'd stay there. But no such thing.
I like the good things about as much as I hate the bad things, so I'll vote in the middle.

Give it a couple weeks, see where it plays into and around your game style. If you choose to avoid FvF/PvP/GvG zones, that doesn't make them bad or imposing on you. If you choose to seek the rewards found in them (Honor Points etc.), you have also chosen to take the risks in getitng them. Neither faction can allow for the other to win and cause that massive change in their quality of life on Atys.
Right now you don't even know how much you don't know... The sky isn't falling... but the ground is desert.
Totaly agree.
You tree huggers wern't there for more than 5mins (Just enough time for me to do this to you and for me to let rip a true Nelson HAA HAA!!) and all you did was shout "kill kitins not homins" repeatedly. Your worse than a load of Jehovah's calling at the door! If you want to share your views with other homins thats fine but don't charge around giving out orders.. even more so when it's a PvP area your doing it in lol. And you wonder why you got floored.
As has been said if you don't like the new content.. thats your tough luck. What your used to in Ryzom has barely been effected so why don't you stick to that until something comes along to your liking.. if thats even posible.
As for MO.. my early impressions arn't too good. wtf with the desertness.. wtf is with the bases being indestructable.. It would be nice to know exactly how this new content was meant to pan out, and also if it has indeed panned out how you (Nevrax) intended it to?

Re: Episode 2 Poll
I'm not willing to call this event "Episode 2". Its a PvP add-on featuring a "King of the Hill" Quake style map with big bots and no power-ups.
The low level shell is along the border, pretty much free of aggro (mob aggro anyway). If you can't pull q50 desert head over to Pyr and dig for a bit. Izams will drive you batty but it can be done.
The resin is closer to the center, near the ramps to the prize, amber. Closer to the center the more kitin of the sort that don't take kindly to homins running around.
Desert folk have a slight advantage but the well rounded forager has a shot.
Crafters can stay outside or guard the harvesters and grind the refined mats.
Fighters... well, they fight other fighters.
There isn't any mechanics in the game (outside of Kami Tolerance and limits on resources) that require a homin to fire upon another. We could easily draw a line in the sand and pull our fill while fighters do the noble thing and protect us.
Our actions define how we are going to change the story. If we fight each other when the safeties are off, blinded by our faith or the l337er inside of us then the Karavan and the Kami (or Nevrax) will be convinced that they can manipulate us into their design.
I want to take part in honoring my faith in Jena by building a temple. I have invited my Kami friends to build one beside ours. We told Still Wyler of our intent. He should honor our choice.
It's too early to tell if the allure of mayhem and the fever of chaos will overtake our senses.
(Sorry for the mix of IC and OOC but its late and I have much DP)

Re: Episode 2 Poll
I've posted against PvP in the past, but that was before I really tried it out tonight. I had a wild time, loved every minute of it. It was all so good natured and was a welcome break from the usual seriousness you often find in this game. Taking a short sleep then back on to kick Kamist's all over the desert again . This was well worth the wait and I sort of see the reason for the nerfs now, it makes the fights last alot longer.

This was a lot better than I thought it was going to be. I had a lot of fun today.
It was nice to see some of the people that have been out of the game for a while.

The Pro-PvP blinkers are blinding a few people I think.
"Krunk smash" doesn't exactly lend itself to analytical thought or examination.
We were told neutral stance would be able to contribute and that it wouldn't be all about the pro PvP.
I stuck it out far longer than I wanted to to make sure I was getting an accurate impression.
You've got homin on all sides who promised to fight defensively acting like RAGE infected monkeys and slaughtering anything that moves.
Faction slaughters faction gets killed by Kitin, rinse, repeat - yawn.
The only 'safe' contribution is crafting, and that's dependent on mats that don't seem to be coming out of the combat zone.
The level of the kitin involved heavily precludes lower levels from participating.
And, you know, homin are perverse. I might want to work for either side without being slaughtered unnecessarily by guards, did anyone think of that? I might want to attack my own faction if they act like dishonourable idiots and kill defenceless homin.
I might want to heal opposing faction members struck down by homin or kitin.
None of this is an option and that's not a good thing.
If you're a fighter the only way to get 'honour' (Poor choice of words) is by killing other homin, something I don't want to do. Why not the kitin?
