im a harvester. give it to me baby !!
basicly im talking about tracking down resorces.
these are the changes i would love to see.
1) change the tracking skill so when used it will give you a waypoint to goto.
this would make life more easyer.
2) when you select search for choice you will only find choice, not basic+fine+choice . this is a pain.
3)change prospect so its prospect-over-time. so when you activate it you dran focus over time but its always running. this would let you move about abit and pick up spots in an area. range angle and amount of spots would still be very much needed as this would greatly reduce the focus you use to find the mats.
4) make resorce points stay active for longer. so i u find 2 you have time to harvest both without having to re-prospect.
havesting needs some love.
Re: havesting needs some love.
1) This would be nice. Doing this might make prospecting in an area much less useful. Certainly make everything much easier.lordzren wrote:im a harvester. give it to me baby !!

2)From my understanding, if there is choice you will find choice. If not, but there is fine, you will then be given a fine mat. If no choice or fine, but some basic, it will pop up a basic mat. This can be annoying, and many people have called for changes in this, but its not quite as bad as it seems.
3) Multiple sources pick up spots in an area at once.
4) Resource points will stay up as long as you have the skill to keep them up. Right now my source will stay for 45 sec. The higher you are the longer they stay.
Generally, the higher you are in harvesting the more things you can do. Prospecting at low levels is very hard. As you raise levels, you will find you get much better and finding the things you want.

1) To be honest I think tracking is fine as it is. If you make it too easy then you run into danger of making the whole thing a sleep inducing bore. There is a slight bit of challenge and knowledge to the whole thing right now. I would rather them spend there time in other areas.
2) This is a bit annoying but it is true like the other poster mentioned. If you prospect with Choice if there is choice and fine there next to each other it will give you the choice node. If there is only fine you will get it. I think they basically should just add another stanza that is like "Restrict prospect results to choice selected" and make it cost like 5 points. Then it will only give you say choice and if Fine is there ignore it. I would rather have it both ways like that.
3) If I understand you right you want to be able to move around like you have a metal detector and pick up multiple sources as you move around? Hmm...again I think this is making the whole deal a bit too easy.
4) Im pretty sure there is a skill to do this already. You can get a skill at higher levels to make a source last longer. So...its already there.

As others said, easier, yes, but not nearly as much fun. If they jsut had all the materials available at a vendor, it would be even easier!
2) when you select search for choice you will only find choice, not basic+fine+choice . this is a pain.
If you find basic or fine when looking for choice, then harvest the point anyway, but make sure to exhaust it (resource mode 5 will usually garauntee this), then the basic or fine will be gone and you can track down that choice one.
3)change prospect so its prospect-over-time. so when you activate it you dran focus over time but its always running. this would let you move about abit and pick up spots in an area. range angle and amount of spots would still be very much needed as this would greatly reduce the focus you use to find the mats.
Um... that's what tracking is for. Tracking gets you near it, then you determine it exactly. There's no reason to reduce the focus needed, spend some skill points to increase your focus, you arn't supposed to remain at 100....
4) make resorce points stay active for longer. so i u find 2 you have time to harvest both without having to re-prospect.
Finding multiple points is mainly if you are 'group' harvesting with guild or friends, etc. it can be very effective if you only hire yourself out as a prospector and have all the prospecting skills, and nor the harvesting. Take a group out, find a bunch for them, get paid in mats or cash.... and invariably helpfull for guilds with only one person doing the very large area, multiple point prospect and many then moving in with high-focus cost but efffective harvesting.

Re: havesting needs some love.
I would also like to see a change so that the source timer does not start until the first extraction attempt. I understand that "Multiple spot" stanzas are intended for group activities (or perhaps so you can "browse" multiple nodes and work the one you like the best). But the change suggested would not effect group activities. It would however:
a) Allow the solo prospector to fully work all the (multiple) nodes (s)he discovered.
b) Allow the solo prospector who is being attacked mid-prospect to handle the attacker then return to extract the node with a full source time.
Nodes should decay over time, however, just like the ones in the starter village, but I don't think delaying the source time decay until extraction starts would be too big of a deal. The starter village nodes already work that way.

Re: havesting needs some love.
Actually, I can extract as many as 3 sources from 1 prospect, you just have to tweak it correctly. As for the rest, it would definately water things down, its not that hard as it is. In fact, harvesting is by far the easiest skill tree to level.
Re: havesting needs some love.
I use find 3 spots and I can usualy harvest 3 of them 20% of the time, 2 of them 60% of the time. And I'm talking 2 mats each. I guess it depends upon your skill level.
harvest/prospect 72 forest specialization.
I agree otherwise -- choice tracking should just return choice etc ... I dont' care about waypoints, that'l make it to easy.
As for other types of waypoints, I would like to see a prospecting/harvesting log that grows through the life of your character, that shows what you're pulling out from where.

Re: havesting needs some love.
You can do that. Just go to the actions tab, and choose, "sit." Then while your character is regenerating focus, grab a pen and a peice of paper and write down where you found stuff.usagiyo wrote:As for other types of waypoints, I would like to see a prospecting/harvesting log that grows through the life of your character, that shows what you're pulling out from where.
Re: havesting needs some love.
I'd be plenty happy with a better system for marking the map.
Re: havesting needs some love.
I am not used to having a radar in the game I am playing, I think i may turn it off. One less window.
I think the rardar makes for lazier requests.
As a tracker you would be relying solely on skill, and intuition.
Rather than markers, and pointers, perhaps the ques for proximity, and quality could be sound/visual based. As in, your heart races as you near a source site, and something about the a source just glows to you, you know it's a good one. And these are scaled for basic, fine choice, etc.
Perhaps something like that.
I am not a very highly skilled forager yet, but I know alot of the requests in this thread are things you CAN do at higher level.
To the devs: PLEASE do not make harvesting any easier, make it more challenging. It is addictive, and compelling as it is, pinpointing sources would really suck. Players will make maps, and DB's, and I'm sure once that happens the locations will "move" I know I'd move em
