Here's a suggestion. It's generally not a lot of fun to be nuked with no warning, even if it is a PvP zone. How about people announce that they are Pk'ing at the time.. Doesnt have to be some big RP speech but fighting others when they are ready for it would surely be more enteraining for all concerned?

You entered a PvP zone. You were warned that you would be attackable. You stuck around. You were attacked.

You "without previous warning" doesn't wash mate. You WERE warned:

"You are now in a Guild PvP Zone: here guilds can confront each other.
You will be attackable in 30 seconds."

IMHO they did nothing wrong. You have no grounds for complaint. If you don't want to be attacked, stay away from PvP zones mate. :)

And in case you're wondering, I don't like PvP. I just don't think you've got a complaint.

Ganking, as this seems to be what happened, is something that has plagued many MMO's and drove players from said MMO's. Ganking is one of the many froms of griefing, it's a game for little people with tiny little brains who can't see beyond their own stupidity...
There have been MMO's where the griefers were so proficient at driving away the regular players they were eventually the only ones left, those MMO's usually DIE!
So the question is do we really want people around who will purposely destroy other peoples fun (which is what griefing is all about) or do we send those people a message?

Oh and yes I am aware of the fact that you are attackable when you enter a PvP area but that still doesn't mean you have to go round killing everyone in sight on the off chance they might want to attack you.

PvP in SoR has a context I consider every and any non consentual PvP outsside this context to be griefing you may agree with me on that or not but if you want to see what it leads to if you condone this kind of behaviour, go play Lineage 2....

p.s. If more of my guildies get victimized by this kind of childish behaviour I will do whatever I can to retalliate!

IHMO, just because you CAN do something, does not mean that it is good or right. Yes, when entereing PR you get a warning about PvP. Yes I can walk up to anybody and nuke the snot out of them. But is what I'm doing helping anyone and anything? No, for the most part, it is completely destructive and demoralizing. Yes the Ganker may get a quick thrill and say to himself, "I killed someone who wasn't expecting an attack!! Yeah, I'm the man!"

But the consequenzes of that action are that the person killed has a foul taste for the Ganker, and possibly PR, and even further, the game. If this behavior is continued and becomes consistent all over, it WILL drive many of the players from the game. And with no players, there is no game.

So, for you ppl who enjoy ganking people in PR, by sneaking up on them unawares and taking advantage of their trust (they can see you on radar, and dont attack you becacuse they trust you will do the same) go ruin another game. Thats how I feel anyway.

I say go here: http://www.ryzom.com/forum/showthread.php?t=16410

Post a challenge. As Kye already has, hehe.

There seem to be plenty of people who want to kick up some dust in the PR so find each other and go to town!

As others have said, all a PvP zone means is that the rules of engagement / laws of physics in that area make it *possible* for you to attack another player there. If you have some rationale for engaging another player in those areas -- fighting over a strategic resource, your guilds are at war, or some such -- then that's one thing...

...but if you believe that just because you *can* attack/kill a player, that you should be able to do so without any reason, without them getting upset... then I think you're out of touch with mainstream player community here. PvP zone or not, that's still griefing: enhancing your enjoyment of the game, at the expense of someone else's.

Consider this: everytime you walk out your front door back here on Earth, you are attackable. The laws of physics dictate that anybody can cause you harm at any time. How do we survive, then? Because as societies, we have developed moral standards, and laws, and made sure that those who violate those will face consequences to their actions.

We, as a virtual society on Atys, can do the same.

Hey, I agree with Mikos.

Kye, you have the right to PK in PVP zone. But if you do, just be a man and own up to the consequences, which include having your name being broadcast to everybody that you're a PKer (without warning) and the consquences that come with that.

So, just enjoy yourself! Have fun! be a man! live up to your ganking reputation :)

But don't act the innocent "I did no wrong, I am suppose to PK because I can!", because you did (at least in blondy eyes), and the reason of this thread being here is that people can watch out for you and treat you as they want.

I mean, what else do you expect? That the people that get killed just shrug it off and go "oh haha i guess I got that coming I was in PVP zone, MY BAD!".
No, if you fire off that spell, you have to expect consequences from it.

That's just the way it goes.

edit to add:

p.s. It will actually alleviate hard feeling tons if you let people know before you go after them. I think part of the displeasure here is being killed out of the blue without warning. So, make some growling noise and flap your arm or something before going in. Give'em a running start ;)

While this is true, why does everything one does have to be Good or Right? In a game where PvP exists, you getting killed is something that you have to realize can, and probably will happen. If there are specific zones where PvP can take place, you need to be on your guard and ready to fight at any time. No matter the actual reason you are there.

If your fighting skills are not at a level where you can compete with an attacker (or running away skills enough that you can't get away), you will die. It is then the time to get revenge, get backup or move on. PvP is survival of the fittest. When the outpost thing hits and people are competing for something meaningful, I see PR killings happening more often. Honestly, how many of you want other people gather resources that will be aimed at you skull in a few days time? (I know it was not the case here, but it's where we are headed)

Please don't take this as a, "Party A is right for attacking party B." I'm just saying that although you might not be wanting a fight, doesn't mean the same for all those around you. I, for one, stay away from PR as I am not prepared to fight A) the monsters B) other people. If you are not prepared for either A or B, I suggest you do the same...or bring friends. Strong friends.
