Surely the server should have been closed

It is a patch day and we were presented with the message "There servers will be down between 3 and 7 for one hour patch." The servers were not closed though so people continued playing. Well I just logged out and back in and my character was back the way it was before 3pm. Surely if characters weren't being saved during this period the servers should have been closed. Not everyone would have known about the patch.

At the time of your posting this, the patch hadnt happened yet, its in process now (started 2 or 3 mins ago).

Yes but nothing had been saved character-wise from 3pm(uk) as far as I can see. My location changed items I had constructed had disappeared. I am not the only person who had items missing and also ended up in different locations when logging back in. For me it wasn't a problem I was just harvesting. But we will see when the servers are back up.

I agree... Its not right to allow people to keep playing, knowing there is a problem with the database and the characters will not be saved. We will see when the servers come back up but as Lasrian said when I logged back in my char was reset back to almost 2 hours before that. Not good....
