Here are the tales I told during our travel throughout Atys, enjoy !
Longing home - Matis.
Hello Dear,
How long has it been since I last wrote to you? A week, a month? I am having trouble keeping time, for things never stand still around here. If there isn’t a chore to be done or training to do, we spend our waking time guarding. It is hard but we are all friends here, so it’s not as hard as it seems.
Do you remember my friend Lism? (I told you about him in my last letter: the long tall thin guy that was a good swordsman). Well, you should have seen him during our last attack; he was attacked by three kitins and while dodging the strikes from the others, he slayed them one by one. Just as I reached him to help, he laughed and looked at me saying: ‘You need to be faster next time Baggie’. I then ran towards him and thrust my sword just beside him; it went deep into a kitin, lurking behind him. I replied: ‘And you need to be more careful’.
We both smiled and then fought back to back. Yes, it was a fierce attack that night but with him as my partner I felt safe; we complete each other on the battlefield. And we are getting to know each other more every day. You must meet him when we get home from this outpost; I think you will like him.
How is your mount coming along, has she recovered from the illness you wrote about? I really hope so, for I know how much she means to you. I will send some powder along to mix in her food. I got it from the stable boy here; he says it works miracles for meks. He also said to give her a good bath and keep her from getting cold for a week or two.
Have the neighbours had their child yet? And if so: was it a boy or a girl? How they talked about their child! The father has such great plans if it is to be a boy. I know that no matter what it is, he will love their child above everything. They are good people indeed and I feel lucky to have them as neighbours and friends. They also promised to look after you while I was gone.
Oh, and yes, we better should start feeding the stray Yubos so they don’t go rampage in our garden again, ha-ha! I still remember your face that morning when you walked out into the garden and found it in a small mess. You were angered at first but when you saw the cause of it you just smiled. You have such a lovely hand with animals. Oh, how I miss the touch of your hands, your voice close to me! I think of you every day, dear, every waking moment you are in my mind. And soon I hope to see you again.
We have gotten word that a traveler will soon come with supplies to us. I hope to be sending this letter and the powder with him back to you. And who knows, perhaps he carries a letter from you? I sure hope so, for you are my light when everything here is dark. Every day is another day away from you, but also a day closer to when I can see you again. And I am longing for once more to be in your arms, dear.
With never-ending love

Cries in the night - Tryker.
It was a mighty sight and a building of great honour. Many Homins had worked long and hard to gather the materials to build it. Many hours were laid into the creation of its surroundings and its base. It was built to stand against any threat that ever came upon it. It was the mightiest of outposts.
As it was being completed (the last nail being hammered into its logs), soldiers came to take their posts in it. It could hold more than 150 soldiers at the same time. It had a small training ground where the soldiers could work out to better their skills. There was also a small stable for the mounts and packers to rest between the travels for food and supplies. The food storage held room for food for about a month if it was ever needed.
It was the the best of the outposts and this is the tale of how it fell...
As the last solider marched into the outpost, the mighty gates were closed with a bang. Now they were there finally: the men that were to defend the land from the infestation of the Kitin; the best of men in the best of outposts. As they all settled in some started their patrolling duty at once, some stood along the walls and looking at the lie of the land. Others still were attending to chores inbound and yet others were training. There was always life and motion in the outpost, it never slept. Guards stood in the towers looking about for any threats and sometimes just enjoying the view. It was all good and safe.
Now and then some small attacks from stray Kitins or surrounding animals happened. These the soldiers could easily fend off. But the greatest test was still to come.
One evening a scout came in, riding on his mount. He claimed that he had ill news about some patrols that were close to the area of the outpost. He said that he had seen Kitins that he had never seen nor heard of before. They were giants compared to the ones usually seen within the area. He was not certain if they were headed this way or not but he felt that he had to warn them, of course. They noted his words carefully and increased the number of guards at the walls and in the towers. A week passed by with nothing special happening; there were three small attacks from what seemed to be stray Kitins. As it seemed as the danger had passed, the guards went back to normal duties again still holding a careful eye out for any attacks or patrols.
The evening turned into night and guards shifted.
"I see something in the distance, its a huge cloud and seems to be blowing this way." The guard from the tower screamed. This alerted everyone and they all rushed to the walls to get a view of what was coming. As it drew closer they could start to make out some recognizable contours of animals. But these ones were not like the usual ones: they were giants and all were headed towards the outpost. As the cloud got closer several bangs were heard and in some places the walls shook a bit.
"Attack! Fight them back, no matter what they are, attaaaack!" Officers and soldiers screamed. "Fight for your lives"
The soldiers fought both brave and valiant that night, every kitin that attacked them was struck down. Then with a loud boom the front gates fell to the ground. And the Kitins stormed the outpost...
And in the night, carried further by the wind, the screams of the dying homins on the walls could be heard. Even today the wind carries their voices around Atys to honour their fight. And when daylight came upon it, everything was devastated, destroyed. There were bodies everywhere and no survivors were to be found anywhere.
This is the tale of the Fall of The Great Outpost.
The tale of Findings of a new day - The Zorai.
This is a tale I found when I was looking through an old archive that I found while I was in Zorai. It is a tale about a battle seen from a man’s view, a tale of how hard a battle can be and how much we are willing to give to see another day. It is a tale of findings of a new day.
How long had they been here now, from where did they come and how could the attack so fast? The scouts had reported that an army of invading Kitins was en route, yet it
seemed as if they were just passing by. As the scout entered the gates, screaming of his news, they were right upon us. We stood no chance to fight them back. They burst in as if it was nothing.
Before we knew it they were everywhere, inside, outside behind us and in front of us. Before we knew they stood there screaming for blood, our blood.
I drew my sword as quickly as I could and ran out into the fierce battle, screaming for my people. As I screamed and struck against what was in front of me I heard the voice of Da'Nim as he threw a powerful cold spell on a Kitin that had snuck up beside me, then he gave me strength to continue and I let my wrath turn into a high scream to strengthen others as I had gotten strength from Da'Nim. They all heeded my call and we gathered in the middle of the swarm and formed a ring with our casters in the middle surrounded by us, the swordsmen. That night the maze of Zora was drown in mighty fireworks, sounds of swords meeting its prey and screams.
Until this very day those screams haunt me, the screams of the Kitin as they stormed in and the screams of my fellow friends. All gathered up in a mix of pain and suffering. While we could still fight back we did our very best and after a while the ring expanded. The Kitins started to fall one by one, and soon they realized their swarming didn’t go as they believed. When the men saw this they took energy from it and managed to attack even harder and more fierce than ever before, they were not only fighting for their lives anymore, they were going through this battle for all those who were still at home. For those too weak to fight, for those who took care of the weak and wounded. For everyone that ever could be harmed by the kitins. They fought well and valiant. They fought until no strength was left in them, and when they were all worn out they fought even more.
As the kitin started to realize that the battle had turned against them they started to fall back, further and further away. We thought that we had scared them away and started to see our victory. Then we heard something that we had never heard before and as we turned around to see from where this sound was emanating we all stumbled back. It was the largest Kitin we had ever seen...
Its attacks were fierce and powerful. It was as if it had all the strength of the homins combined with all their wrath. As it struck it took out almost half of the swordsmen on that side. Our healers and casters quickly did what they could as they called our friends back. Then we all attacked with all the strength that was left; we fell and stood up again. We hit the Kitin and yet it seemed as if it was not harmed. We did not give up, for one Homin falling two more attacked even harder. And finally after what seemed to be two lifetimes it bellowed a scream that passed through our heads and send a chill down our spines. It fell to the ground hard. And as we turned back towards the rest of the attacking Kitins it was as if they saw our hatred in our eyes, they saw that they stood no chance, for we were no longer mere Homins, we were fighters of Atys itself. They started to turn around and run away, scattering around.
We attacked with as many as we could while they were running around trying to find a
way out. I ran after the last one and threw my sword after it; it went deep into the Kitin's leg, yet it still kept running away. Such fear they learned for us that day.
I fell to my knees as the tiredness of my body made itself reminded. I started to breathe heavily for my body started to regain its strength. Then I looked at Da'Nim and he at me. We started to laugh loudly followed by all others that still stood up...
We had won this battle, we prevailed. We knew that the Kitins would be back and
that we will be there to fight them once more...

Lost beyond Duty - The Fyros.
It has been many nights and days now since he arrived. Every day he stood guard
with his eyes open and mind sharp, looking across the deserts surrounding him.
He was a guard of the outpost. His duty was to be one of the first to counterattack if an attack was initiated. He was to train the newcomers and see to it that the old were fit enough for fighting. He was responsible for the most important content of the outpost: the men inside.
But who was he then, who was the man behind the face? The answer is simple: he was a man that grew up on a farm just outside Pyr. He grew crops for his family and what was left over he sold to the merchants. He lived a good life there. But one day he was called into town for a meeting to be held. When he arrived he felt that the tension was in the air, an air that was not easy to breathe. They all calmed down and an officer stood in front of them.
The words he spoke were not what they expected to hear: the officer proclaimed that they were not as safe as they once thought. Indeed the Kitins were fought off when they all returned from the Roots, yet still they have forces unseen and unknown. And it was for this that he had called upon them all this day. He needed volunteers to train to be guards at outposts that were placed in the lands surrounding Pyr, whom would watch over the lands around and to help the scouts gather information.
He took this into his heart and as he walked home he thought of this very carefully. As he walked out through the gates of Pyr he turned around and gave it a good look. He was still confused on how to choose but when he reached home, he knew. For when he saw the faces of his family greeting him, he knew. He had to defend them at all costs. And so he declared the will of his heart to them. They were saddened to see him leave yet they understood his decision well, for he had always been a man of his house looking after
them. And now he went on to look for them and all other Homins of Pyr.
The rain started to drip on his face as he walked out through the gates of the outpost to a small guardhouse that was close by. He always checked whether they were all right for they were the first line of sight for the outpost. When he came closer he called the name of the guard he knew was on duty but there was no answer, only silence. As he got closer he called the name again, still only silence was there to meet him. When he came around the corner he took a step back in fear. Before him lay what was left of the little uardhouse, it was shattered and beyond recognition. As he looked around he saw a piece of armour that he knew.
He quickly removed the debris that was covering the soldier and was met by a wounded man. As he leaned towards him the man grabbed his armour and pulled him closer and with the last of his strength he said "They are here, tell the others they are here..." and then he closed his eyes.
Quickly he stood up and bowed towards the soldier to honour him on his last crusade. He then ran back towards the outpost. As he came closer he saw that it was already too late. The Kitins had stormed the outpost, it was a total carnage. No one was left alive; it was only him against all the Kitins. He realized that he could not run, he was no match for them to hunt down.
He closed his eyes and let his mind wander off to his family. As he saw the pictures of them smiling in front of him he knew what to do. He raised his sword and ran towards the Kitins while screaming "For Atys...”
