Yep, it is not geared towards solo play for hunting.

the other half of the skilltree can be done solo. The harvesting and crafting.

Solo hunting is fine... until you get above lvl 150 or so... then it gets difficult, but still very possible.

The need to team is built in the game it is in the basic design, the verry fabric of the parts. If nevrax is to change this and make it easier for people to solo their melee and and magic skills it would mean overpowering teamplay.

Any change to players equipment/stats/stanza's to make it easier to solo can have the effect of making a team have those same 'bonus' so it would be alot simpler to kill things and get decent xp. and it would be verry easy to level.

In response to this the xp balance has to be adjusted since it is so simple to get decent xp with the team's new combined solo bonus. so xp go's down and equilibrium has been restored.

I don't think solo play should be a decent xp option at a certain point unless you are willing to submit yourself to irritaing gameplay and long waits and danger that could be easely avoided if you teamed. But it is a group game, your team/guild/race/the whole of homin kind etc. Maybe pets will give some relief to the solo needs, in the last mmorpg I played, pet professions where able to solo nicely if carefull and at a decent speed aswell.

On the xp curve where do you think the 50% point is ? my gues is somewhere around 200, so you can get 1/4 of your xp relatively easy and then 3/4 a bit harder ?

I dont know for sure how the xp curve goes, but I have heard that its related to the DP curve... so 50% would be at lvl 188... but the rate makes a drastic change at lvl 125... thats where it starts getting slow... as far as DP... and continues to curve upward from there till 250.

so, yes with levels xp gets harder, and harder. No not just a bit, much. :)

DP chart:

Of course the point per point when comparing DP to Xp are not 1 to 1... its much more... like 10 dp points to 1 xp point or even more... but i've heard it follows the same pattern

According to the dp chart the 1/4 point is between 144 and 145. If this is the XP 1/4 point aswell then I am verry respectfull of soloers who do melee and magic to 200 or higher. You sure have alot more time then me :p

Hehe... same reason I dont do much soloing. :) Besides, teaming is much funner for me. The social enviornment and all.

Only big problem in soloing at higher lvls is too long downtime for regen, especially if you have good hp gear. Some food or herbs to counter that and solo would be ok. You still need to pick your fights and it is still slower xp than teaming but it would be ok.

I think the big fear with that is the game turning into something where you can just heal on a whim (like Diablo) and therefore make healers irrelevant. A simple solution might be to treat food/herbs like teleport tickets. They could take x seconds to take effect and the effect is cancelled if you are attacked or start another action while waiting. In this case, 15 seconds seems excessive, but maybe 5 would be reasonable.

Does this solve the problem without creating new ones? It's still going to be slower to work solo, but I agree that's OK. There should be a reward for working together.

For me, I'd only use this when travelling; for example, when I move around in WoM, I can handle anything in region without too much stress. Except Doren. Doren always leaves me vulnerable (low hp, emergency regen spent, melee invul spent); running into something else shortly after Doren leaves me calling for a rez.

Of course, the new "run away" logic makes this less of an issue for me. :)
