post-patch crafting...

Re: post-patch crafting...
Aye, I agree with vutescu and Caitiff on this, and I'm not sure what method is being used in game either.
I haven't played much since the patch due to a busy week and Memorial day holiday weekend, but from the crafting I did do late Thursday evening and into Friday...about 100 pieces of Matis med QL 110 HA vest and pants at around 70% success rate.....sorry can't remember my actual HA skill levels...bad memory , it seemed like I didn't have any more failures or degrades than usual. I usually don't craft something when the success rate is below 50% because I hate wasting mats with degrades and failures even though it may take me longer to level up my crafting skills. Hats off to you guys and gals that do though and make it work.
The degrades and failures do seem more random to me, but they were random before as well. On one occasion pre-patch I remember crafting 30 Zorai med QL 60 to 70 daggers at a success rate of around 50%. It seemed like I was trying to craft drunk as I was getting a failure or degrade about every three daggers I crafted. I ended up crafting about 12 daggers that were at the quality I was shooting for. The other 18 were degrades, but that seemed realistic to me even though the failures and degrades were frustrating. Two hours later after gathering enough mats, I went at it again trying crafting at 50%. This time however, I did much better with getting 24 daggers out of 30. I was getting good xp, but at the same time, I was scratching my head at the fact I was having such good success crafting.
I'll have to experiment more and keep track of my results of successes, complete failures and partial failures(item degrade). Maybe several of us can do this if it hasn't been done and compare our results.
What I want to know is, if one fails the crafting action, what determines whether or not it is a complete crafting failure or just a partial failure where you get an item degrade? Is it random or based off a formula of some type.

Re: post-patch crafting...
Well i'm no uber 250 crafter and i'm not used to crafting q250 sets with only one 250 skill but the change appears to be one for the better. My attitude might be different when i'm using quality mats instead of just grinding.
vutescu I believe they would be using method 1. Method 2 is an interesting idea though.
5% is a 1:20 ratio BTW not 1:19

vutescu, you did just fine. I had no problem understanding what you were saying Some people were just not trying to see your point and probably didn't finish reading the whole thing then thinking about it. Common habit of people (i'm guilty of this too at times, so I'm not just trying to put others down )
Also, I did a bit of crafting yesterday (w/ 5% success rate) and honestly did not notice any difference post-patch compared to pre-patch. I think it may have been a streak of bad luck w/ the thought of a patch bringing bugs/nerfs so it was an illusory correlation. I'll pay attention as I do more crafting, but I don't believe that part was changed.
Well, random is done by a formula. So the question is what kind of formula are they using? This could be determined by a bit of work and maybe one day I will get to work on it ;Prrwfreak wrote:Is it random or based off a formula of some type.

actually it is 1:19 (1 to 19) because you have a 5% success rate so for every 20 crafts 1 will succeed and 19 will fail. 1:20 would be based off of 21 crafts which would then not be quite 5%bobturke wrote: 5% is a 1:20 ratio BTW not 1:19

Was about to say "Nope. Applying your logic a 1:1 ratio would only happen 50% of the time."caitiff wrote: actually it is 1:19 (1 to 19) because you have a 5% success rate so for every 20 crafts 1 will succeed and 19 will fail. 1:20 would be based off of 21 crafts which would then not be quite 5%
Then realised you were right. Back into the corner with me.

no problem man ;P It can be confusing for some at times because it is not the same as a fraction but appears to be kind of You aren't the only one who thought that I am sure, just the only one who posted what you sawbobturke wrote:Was about to say "Nope.
