the coolest thing about the beginning of the game was that people didnt know what a good weapon really is, now the mechanics are all laid out and there are so many bored players willing to offer a castle

its a very different game to start these days, but i still encourage less handing out of goods, it shortens the months of excitement ryzom has to offer

You can't really give a noob good weaponry - they haven't the stats to use them yet.

So you just get to give them pretty looking caster clothes, which I think is perfectly fine :)

Same goes for me. I make jewelry and would be happy to give you a starter set for free when you get to the mainland :D

Sure you can. Supreme maxed important stats equipment is as good equipment at low q for low lvl homin as higher q item is for high lvl homin.

For someone right out from starter island a choice grade stuff without maxed stats will be perfectly ok.

They will lvl out weapons and amps given to them but they will be damn picky in future if they got some supreme stuff for free in the beginning. There is nothing much to improve in equipment later on, just same item with in higher q.

This is true. But another truth is that starter island does not reflect mainland perfectly.
Depending on how good you are supported by other players the first 50 levels are more or less hard. On mainland you can get HP boosted equipment. With 100 more HP you would be able to kill the Goari. A huge part of the game is about teaming. Try to find a healer on starter island and hit that Goari ;)

Same offer like other did: Send a /tell on mainland and i will provide you with some starter stuff. I also have a char on starter island who can give the one or the other answer. Call and i will be there :)

Yep, that's very true. The same goes for people joining a big guild as soon as arrive, I'd encourage any recent refugee to explore and play with their own eyes and not get taken to high level area's and power levelled. There is so much to see and do in the starter zones, and so much to learn. I for one spent at least a month in CoI, find some people your level and explore the world, learn about the mobs, fame, etc, etc.

But at the end of the day it's up to each homin to choose how they progress. You dont have to accept the offers of flaming swords, q200 jewels and guild invites ;)

Some take what they need, some take what they can get. I did it the long way too :)
Digged q50 up to level 78. And when i had the dappers to buy my first focus gear i have got it for free. Same happened with my first heavy armor. Both where q70 or q80 as i remember. Since that i give q50-100 for free when someone askes for trade.

But to see people hunting Goaris on Kami hill in white HQ heavy is somehow weird :D

I started too, shortly after the game was released back in September. Back then there were no high-lvl crafters that could make you a full hq armor or ql 200 jewelry or waving swords. Everything needed to be earned. Harvesting like crazy, trading, begging, anything. I remember a few weeks after the start when i gave a fashion-queen one of the first med ql heavy armors. She was so happy, it made me feel good too. I got HQ plans some time later piece by piece and it was the same all over again.

My point is, a few months ago med ql became a standard and now or very soon high ql armors will be a standard. It's a shame because the time between being a real noob and a high lvl char is drastically shortened. Meaning they miss out a lot of fun and in the end they will have seen more of the game in a shorter period.

People don't realise when they give out high ql stuff for free or low prices they are only doing short-term favors. In the long term it just means they'll be "bored" with the game a month or 2 earlier. Especially when it comes to equipment like jewelry or supreme weapons/amps, which can really increase the lvling rate. Which is, eventually, a bad thing.

I was thinking of selling armors but asking for buyers to show their highest title and not make armors that don't correspond to their lvl. This might reduce the time a bit in which players start getting the feeling that they've seen all there is to see in the game. Anyhow if i'd do it now it just means they'll go to another crafter because the competition is so big. There's no stopping them from getting stuff they shouldn't have, even if it's for their own good...

On the other side of the medal, you are not giving the ql 50-100 crafters a fair chance, why not give the starters some advice on how to use the merchants or give some names of crafters in that area that offer those goods?
