Transgender Play No. 2

Come in, pull up a chair, let's discuss all things Ryzom-related.

Why do you play a character of the opposite gender?

Something nice to look at while I'm playing.

As in, you met a char, and it's a female toon, and you assigned a 'female' voice to that toon when she talked to you, and then knowing that he is actually a burly guy later, you still hear the female voice. Isn't that just weird? (Not the other player is 'weird', but that you feel weird for switching a 'she' and a 'he' in midsentence when referring to him/her, thinking about him/her. Or when talking about her with some other players). It gets confusing!

For someone that is used to work with imagination and play lots of paper rpg, that's perfectly normal. Whenever i see a female character, even if i know very well that beyound that there's a guy, i feel like having a chat with a nice female. In any case is unlikely that i'm going to meet the guy beyound the computer, and i'm playing with him/her brain, not the body!

In the last we are all part of the same race, the huge differences in the gender come from education.

Ooh, controversial!

Biology, hormones, evolutionary psychology AND social conditioning I think. Also there's mounds of evidence that our brains work and structure with some significant differences.

I hope our brains work differently, otherwise the world would indeed be a boring place :)

I tend to go with the size of the boobies - the larger they are the more likely the toon is being played by a guy though I'm sure there are some fems who feel shorted IRL and want their alts to look "good."

I tried playing as a male character in EnB but felt it didn't "fit right" for some odd reason. All my SoR alts are female, both regular server and ATS.

i choose a girl as back in the good old days( thinks back 2 first beta) i startd one male and one female fyros i thought the female looked better so i continued with her.
And ever since then i have continued with the exact same look in all stages and even given the same name cos im lazy and hate change.
It is funny when guys chat up "girls2 in game ma gd mate Alex used to do that and i could bring ma self from the laughin to stop and tell him i was actually a guy

Never played a female before and tbh, can be quite fun :D

Bah! Ever looked at the Fyros men? They look like they've walked into one door to many...

I'm male and play always girl!

It's very much out of an old habit, which I find difficult to change.

I play P&P RPGs since the eighties mostly in rounds which consists of male players only, playing ofcourse male characters. And after several campaigns where I said myself that female characters has more options to encounter the dangers of adventuring. Like distracting the guards protecting the entry to the castle, without endangering her to get killed or arrested.
That was the moment I started to play girls, and I stick with it since the group formation didn't change much over the years.

So for me it was out of question to try a male character.

I'm also a guy playing a girl character.

When I was a youngster, I loved playing a game called 'Phantasy Star' on the Sega Master System. The lead character in that RPG was a female. Ever since then, I've always picked a female character when I have the option as tribute to that game.

Ryzom is the first MMORPG I've been exposed to, and therefore the first time I've played as a female amoung other people, and it has given me some interesting moments that I did not expect.

Hey! I was gonna do a "breast size slider" post. As far as referencing them as female or male: I tend to refer to them as their avatar. If Ryzom can't get the gender right, why should I? "Rakujitsu invites you to join her team" or "Rakujitsu invites you to trade with him". My recent psychosis is that I refer to RL people by their avatar name in RL context. "Heya Soma! err <insert RL name>"
