Yup, plenty :) Of course, if you're referring to actual towns or areas that contain some kind of 'civilisation', then I'd say no :)

If you're out in the middle of nowhere, there are lots of places to sit and take in the scenery without being disturbed. Places that come to mind are:

Extreme points of Outlaw Canyon and Scorched Corridor (i.e. close around the canyon walls, but far SW, SE, NE etc.
The island in the middle of Outlaw Canyon (Dragon Spine?). I remember visiting a large, mixed-race tribe there some time ago - a very peaceful spot indeed. Best part is the E tip of the island.
Far Eastern areas of Grove of Umbra, very quiet, purple goo and mist, a Kirokya in the right season, and the occasional Lienchang popping by (although less often than once per hour :) )

I wish I still had my Open Beta exploration urges...

try the mentioned outlaw canyon / scorced corridor
also try the north end of the sawdust mines, north end of haven of purity (dunno why lots of cool stuff there), a few places in the wastelands (if your there your very likely alone do to uber mobs) underspring and bounty beaches

every one of them places has safe spots and I've never encountered other people when I've been there

There are quite a few. I have been to many a place for hours and no one comes within 250m. Sometimes even in Region! Homins say why would you go there? I say hmmm, maybe you should find out.

Only talking from past experience Neun, haven't played myself for over two weeks... (well, 20 mins the other night, but that's it).

Dragon spine should be empty, as there is nothing there except the big tribe. The extremes of the canyon and corridor will be empty - chances of meeting even another 'chilled out' player in those areas is low, if you're in the right place.

Also the far east of Grove of Umbra in lovely Zorai is very tranquil usually - just keep an eye on the uber-gingo there (forgot their name now...). If you're prepared to dodge aggro around the edge of the goo, you can find some serious space over there :)

Wow, I know 2 years in game development is a lifetime but none of the things they mentioned in that article, save the brick system(kinda sorta), is in the game.

Outposts don't even sound like it's going to be what they originally envisioned @_@.

What irony:
Cohen-Corval says he doesn't want to base the gameplay on the repetition of a level treadmill.

The devs havent been friendly (like gods, they dont say anything)
they have been tinkering with the game mechanics instead of adding content
changing the game mechanics made all my friends leave, but im sticking aroudn waiting for the content

they should be lucky that they have players like me that pay but play only occasionally :-( cause it has such potential :-( but they just mess around alot
