Maybe switch it around?..

nofftz wrote:That works. I've installed the game using Cedega, so it pretends to work.
However, I don't have tested another game yet.
Well, it shows the title screen, but crashes before showing the main window (login screen).
well then cedega is working
nofftz wrote:That doesn't work at all:
$ cedega -use-pthreads no client_ryzom_rd.exe
wine: exists lstat socket : No such file or directory

hmm, strange, im suposing you ran that from the directory where Ryzom is install btw ?.
The error message you got indicates that it is unable to find a file, now the question is what file...
EDIT: just ran that myself and im gettng the same error so there seems to be somthing strange in cedega when you use -use-pthreads no... il dump a report to Cedga btw.
you could do a complete strace from start to finish of a Ryzom run ? and mail it to me: zyrom _at_ itr.no and i will take a look and see if thre is any obvious gotchas. use the -f flag to strace to get all eventuall child processes also...

no according to "man cedega" that is the correct syntax, and using "yes" works
Re: Ryzom in Linux (The Unofficial HOW-TO)
for those who are getting a crash on startup... what distro and architecture are you using?
also, if you run "cedega --debugmsg +all,warn-heap client_ryzom_rd" you'll get a more valuable strace which will probably tell you exactly what is causing the problem...

Welcome to the Unofficial TransGaming Wiki.
Gradma, i hope you dont mind, but, i have edited the Ryzom entry on the Unofficial TransGaming Wiki http://digital-conquest.ath.cx/wiki/index.php/Saga_of_Ryzom and and added a pointer to this thread.
Re: Ryzom in Linux (The Unofficial HOW-TO)
The patching is not working anymore, anyone got an idea ?
For now, i have to copy the file from a patched windows ryzom..... and that takes a lot of time and not handy at all....

yes
oh, i thought it was everyone.
For me, there is no more updt_nl.bat or any other .bat for patching. And the patch files are some .idx files and a few .bnp.
There is 2 .bnp files that have to be changed (renamed ?) in .ref files ...
But if it is working on some other comps, i guess it comes from my configuration... =/

Just for information: The game runs now nicely after I replaced the ATI Radeon by a GeForce. It seems that there are grave issues with ATI's Linux drivers.
Re: Ryzom in Linux (The Unofficial HOW-TO)
I ran "cedega ryzom_recover.exe". After it patched the .bat file appeared. See if that works for you plastoc.
