How does deposit tracking work, and in particular - how does it work in combination with other stanzas ?

"The Deposit Tracking displays the distance to the nearest deposit area containing one or more raw materials (that match the specialization stanzas if you searched for a specific raw material). A deposit area contains a set of row materials. When you begin a "classical" prospection, a random position is calculated, which is dependent of the Distance and Cone Angle stanzas used. It means you may not find the specific raw material you're searching for right from the start, because you have to find the particular places where it is spread.

The Multiple Spot stanza allows to successively calculate different random positions; for each position, you get the raw material corresponding to the random position.

It means also that if you are near a deposit zone, you might make a source appear once, but not get anything the second time you try it."

The in-game experience doesn't seem as calculated... especially with specialized tracking. The more specialized the tracking the more random it becomes. There is a random chance it will work at all, a random chance it will find a node, a random chance it will find a node containing the mat you're looking for, a random chance it will find a node containing the quality you're looking for, a random chance it will be both and a random chance it will be there when I get there. I will ignore the random chance that an aggro will be camping the node or the random chance that I won't have enough focus to pull from the node.

ATM, if I toss a prospect for choice+seed tracking and I can be tracking a choice node, a seed node or (if I'm really lucky) a choice seed node.

Thanks for the info, it gave me an insight and something new to try (e.g. narrow my prospect range and extend my arc when trying to find a tracked node). I do appreciate you taking time to answer our questions.

guess you're going to have to add reading and comprehension to the list of things you should work on

so if you're so worried about your $15 a month, why not stop playing the game and spend it on english lessons as well as some patience

as for the teleports there's also the upper bog kami port that's not there at all, the welcomer is but the tp isn't
Your telling me how to read? Did you completely ignore the question?

Maybe you should learn how to read a question and answer..

The question was:
What will be the next publications on the Gamelore section of the Website ?

The answer was:
Currently, a serie of novels is being written in collaboration with Alexis Aubenque, a famous French science-fiction author (if you read French, he published "La Chute des Mondes" and Etat de Guerre).

The meaning? The next lore is dependant on these novel they are writing.

Now your telling us that some writer is in the process of writing the Saga of Ryzom which basically means no story exists yet. So for the past 6 month Nevrax has been yanking our chains with BS about a story. It's no wonder is completly absent in game.

I can tell you right now that I won't be buying any such novels. I currently pay $15.00 a month and expect to be told a story in game. That is why I am playing this otherwise average game.

Talk about disappointment.
Forgive me for taking so long to reply but I had to get the correct answer. This is the response from Xavier: "You can say that it will be published on the website: they will be part of the gamelore section, and be free of course. The novels are written in collaboration with David Cohen, so there is nothing to fear for the consistency with the background of the game."

Hope that helps.

My fear that has so far been proven true is that all of the gamelore and the story are going to be on th website and completely absent in the game.

I'm with Raynes here. Maybe Xavier could clarify this. Are the books and history supposed to reflect the events that we enact? Ryzom is supposed to be a 'living story'. If this is there intent and how it's going to play out, then it's all good.

What Prof X is saying doesn't make to much sense nor is it very encouraging. An explanation of how storyline elements affect in-game time is the question that needs answering.

Raynes is right about the money. We play 15 bucks to play a game and not to read books.

Going off everything I read pre-release and in interviews I pictured:
We're in some way writing the books as we play and if the names of heroe's are mentioned, stories told, and become a part of the living history of Atys...The books make sense.

Prof X hasn't tied them together in any way.

Will each server have a different set of novels? different names and events and histories? Is it one batch history and if so, nothing like what some of us guessed from previous supplied information.

Are we missing something? What is it? Will I ever read Frenchy?

Guild Infinity, blue monkey scapegoat caster of spells making materials appear in guild hall while riding mektoubs to get things out of the ground so that they may be placed in there so people can level crafting and not making much money so always poor unless I go do things on my own but that's boring so I don't because I'd rather take brithlem's money because he has access to the guild hall and has lots of money so it...

Wow, that's offensive. (despite it being funny that they've still not fixed the HUGE amounts of sections that are in french instead of english. I think more than half my encyclopedia section titles are in french)

Yes, you are paying $15 a month to read. If the story was in-game that's exactly what you'd be doing.
I would be more interested in event OUTSIDE player actions to be told. Otherwise this game is just a big connect-the-dot. The picture turns out to be a Yubo peeing on the ground. Heheh.
I guess it would still be cool to have player actions being turned into real history, but I don't think that's enough to give us real content. It was nice when I did the Cities of Intuition ritual and learned the history of the 4 cities. Now if only we could have that all over the place, at a rate faster than a dripping faucet.

I'm taking a break. Despite the fun I'm finally having being in a guild, compared to the drudgery I felt being eternally solo in EverQuest years ago, I'm sure I won't have much patience for this game. I'll come back before my character is wiped and see if there's a surplus of content for me to sample. Hopefully there will be more than just outposts and a dozen rites.

Heh heh, that's funny, sometimes I spend £90+ on books to read SO I can play a game :)
