Teaming - the next step

Post by matteo81 »

Hi,

Don't know if anyone does this but had a think based upon my experiences of RYL and believe theres room for a new way of teaming. I am yet to try it, will tonight with fellow froggies. The plan is:-

1 Tanker ("Defender" - high HP)
1 Puller ("Attacker")
1 Nuker
2 Healers (May need a third!)

When then mob your attacking is half dead etc the puller goes off and gets another.
The main tanker uses taunt of both mobs to keep them on him.

This will enable nuker to use bomb or spray etc
This will speed up kill and no waiting between pulls!
No lazy tankers :)
The team can increase in size but use common sense!
Will need to be all around similar levels, will need higher level healer and tank!

Once experience you can be almost constantly killing 2 mobs.
Bigger team would equal constent pulling :)

If this has already been covered then I apologise but my experience of teams thus far this has yet to be done!

I look forward to trying it out tonight!!

Yep this is already done :D

Why is not as common as it should be is due to the following reason, IMHO:

Finding 2+ healers is not always possible (Everyone seems to want to be a Nuker these days)

Nukers are a major drain on the healer, almost to the point of needing a dedicated healer per nuker. Personal experience of is that Tanks and Nukers want to use the most powerful attack possible for their lvl, leaving themselves drained at the end of each pull or worse during the fight itself.

This is not a critisim, it just the way it appears.

We need more healers \0/.

We call this "chaining" on the NA server and works quite well. A nuker isn't necessary as a good melee with circle attack does a good job as the "final blow" when the mobs are at low health.

If you only have 1 healer the puller or tank should have sap gift and heal to replenish (as the other taunts off the mobs).

This can get frantic sometimes but it's great fun :)

idd we need more healers thats why i start to pull some mats for some unknown decent crafters who "coincidantly" have a decent heallvl, wich I obviously can use to up my humble nukeskills ;)

and i might add some off those decent crafters owe me :D

My experience is that finding two healers is one thing, finding *good* healers is something totally different. I like healing in a heavy team for about 1,5 - 2 hours because my brain cant keep up when it is getting too late.

What is a good healer?
One who doesnt use heaviest spell all the time.
Life is all about priorities. Did the nuker already hit the mob? Rather keep the tanks up and fit as they are your final line of defence. So one that can make decicions who to heal with what spell in a split second.
One that dares to keep the other healers up in favor of a tank, while keeping the lvl of the mob in mind.
A healer's job is not done when a mob dies, the nuker and other mag users might need some life or sap. So a good healer doesnt stop.
A good healer knows his teammates. Does healer1 has the tendancy to rez dead tanks as soon as they go down? Down heal the dead tank yourself, rather heal the one standing up as he will get hit harder now.
A very good healer develops a feeling for the power of his heals vs the stats of the one he is healing. Say healer1 can heal 800 hp and the nuker has 1200. Healer1 will only give nuker 1 heal before moving on to the next, instead of frantic pushing 11111 untill nuker is back full again.

I dont blame anyone they dont want to heal, as soon as I started working like this people started considering me a high lvl healer, while I am still at lvl61. People I know that work like this and who I trust blind when fighting:

- Drakfot
- Jeannie
- Zespiole
- Sxarlet
- Aaries

Likely there are many more, but we didnt had the pleasure to do extensive teaming :D

I leveled yesterday in a team quite similar to that you described. It works fine with some exeptions.

It can be very dangerous ;) If you pull two and get an add you may have serious problems. More worse it gets when a taunt fails *and* you have an add :)
(Kincher smell it who the healer is ;) )

As Neun said: Its draining a lot. Its not only the nuker. It takes some to keep a puller and a defender alife under attack. And we where two healers around the level of the melees !! Keep in mind that you want to avoid to use a healer or tank/defender with many sp above average level of skills.

This is powerleveling pure. You might run out of spawn fast. If you want to try it, choose a place where you can swap places between the spawns :)

Although i made yesterday 21 ding-a-dongs this was the hardest day on Atys ever. Some may have noticed that i had one or two times eyes closed while the wedding ceremony ;) Fortunately didnt start to snore..

Having played a healer for last two days, 30+ levles, I would say that as a healer you get a feel for a team very quickly and begin to plan your heals and effectively time your heals (hp). For me I would say Im thinking about 4 or 5 heals in advance of what Im doing!

Whilst everyone chils for a min your still working your butt off :)

With two healers should be non stop fun.

Found that as often being only healer in party you have to often jog nukers / tanker to heal you....makes it hard work when they 'forget' or being lazy :)

Don't forget offensive/defensive affliction or ranged to support a group, can work out very well. ;)

I'm guilty of this :x . The healer I regularly party with knows this too so he usually sits down to make me feel bad and in turn remind me to heal/sap him :)

Now I don't do it unless he does this hehe.
