Take it easy its realy not that big a deal. Just watch who does it and take action accordingly. Like inform their guild leader. Or pull out the kinchers.marct wrote:This is such an abomination!!!! There should clearly be a way in-game to use the merchant system as a player to prevent fame-based sales as well as clearly marking certain people as not able to buy your goods. (Although this is easily circumvented with another person in on your deal, The list would grow and it would become clear who are the black market hawkers!)
P.S. A publishing of the 'black market hawkers' names would be nice to see.

Re: Shame On You!!!
Your apology is accepted, Basic, and I hope we can consider this matter closed. I respectfully suggest that, for the good of the Atys community as a whole, we might both do well to avoid posting any more to this topic, because it seems to have spiraled out of control.basicart wrote:That is mainly where i get the idea that you have sold more then 2 rings if im wrong then i apologize, sorry
As for Haddo: If you are out there Sir, and you found my resale of two of your fine wares at a profit to be offensive, then I hereby preemptively extend an apology of my own. As I have mentioned to you when I have seen you around the lake at Dyron, I consider you to be a Jewelry God, and have the highest respect for you, your guild, your skills, and how you have shared them with all of us at a fair price. Be well, and I hope you are enjoying your much-deserved vacation out there somewheres.

And your point is??
Re: Shame On You!!!
Ok. A ton of people are going to hate me for this post, especially since it appears to be closed now.... but someone ingame asked me to read the post and I did. ALL of it.
The main reason I absolutely MUST post is simple:
I AM THE ONE everyone is really after here.
Not Keoni. Keoni is merely a sand flea on the back of the Great Horncher, compared to the number of Haddo jewels I sold. She just got singled out for a tiny "perceived" offense and KABOOM, this thing went sky high. However, I am grateful that Basic and Keoni have somewhat made ammends. Although I am a little confused about the last post of Basic's. Not sure if he was just kidding around, cause I know he has a mischevious sense of humor
So yes, I am confessing. My name is Pita.
I'm not a mean person, nor someone that is out to take advantage of other players. I am always kind to and considerate of other players. I always let others loot first, or it I do the looting, I give it to the mages that don't have time. I GIVE what I have to others constantly and NOT just to my own guild.
I have many great friends in many guilds and I know someone somewhere would vouch for my character.
I also want to make it very clear that what I do (and have done) in the market, is 100% independant of my guild. I have been remarketing goods since I first had dappers. It is something I am good at doing. Haddo is a great crafter. Basic is a great fighter. I am a marketer.
Much like Oroboroed says in his post about his reselling of Haddo jewels, I too had spoken with him about reselling to onther markets and we WELCOMED my interaction. However, the subject of reselling to Fryos was never brought up. Why would I want to do that? I am not a dummy and it would be insane to try and buy a market out from under the one person that produces ALL of the item. I market smart.
I have two goals when marketing:
1. Make dappers for ME. You can call it greed if you like, but then ask yourself if you ever ask for raises in your jobs, or look for new jobs that pay more? Isn't that just as greedy? You may say that you have to get more money to survive, but that is just plain silly. There is always someone somewhere that makes less and survices just fine. Heck, I have gone for years after losing a job and eaten meals every day.
A few people have said that markets drive themselves. It is true. I know it and I live it every day in RL. It is what I do for my income, so I can afford to pay the price gougers at Nevrax. I mean, they charge as infinate amount more to play Ryzom that many other MMORPGs do. There are a lot of them out there for free, or an up front price, with no monthly dues. Wait, but if they are gouging us, why do we all pay the subscription price every month? Maybe because we actually find it within our budgets to do so. By golly! I think Nevrax has something here
Well, I guess I just tossed out a few jabs to make my point. MARKETS drive themselves. If Nevrax put a free market into Ryzom, they MUST have actually meant for it to be used.
From the time I first discovered that travel to other lands was not easy, I knew that Ryzom would need travelling merchants to bring quality crafts to all the lands. I know, because I started with a toon in Fryos, where great jewels were in abundance, then remade with a toon in Tryker, which had an abysmal supply of jewels to choose from.
Opportunity (or greed if you like).
2. The other big reason to resell goods was to see that the other lands had equal opportunity to succeed. I can tell you, there are quite a few Homins not born in Fryos that has thanked me for making such wonderful products like Haddo's jewels available to them.
You might like to know that from time to time, I also get a tell from a prospect saying they will just travel to Thesos and buy from the market there. However, other times I get tells thanking me for saving them the trouble of always having to go to Thesos.... sounds like the market dynamics are working great.
To get back to the main issue here: Reselling Haddo's in Fryos. Yep, I did. Nope, Haddo never told me not to. Heck, I am on every night and most weekend days. I never heard a tell from Haddo. I never read a sign. I never heard another player saying don't. All I know is that I had about 6 complete sets of his jewels (combined) stashed in Tryker and Zorai markets, with markup enough to make it worth my time to resell. Later, after Haddo had left on his vacation, one of my guild mates went to buy jewels and gave me a tell laughing about how they just paid 3m for less than a full set of jewels.
So I am thinking *holy crap!* People would pay that much? Ok, my marketing instinct kicks in I go pull a couple sets from my other markets, then drop them in Thesos at about 100% of Haddo's markup (and he has a pretty dam high markup at 400-600%, no??). Would you believe those jewels sold within an hour? Heck, I must have made someone happy, cause they went faster than any other item I have ever placed on the markets in Ryzom. In fact, it occurs to me I left a lot of money on the table.
You won't believe this, but I went and pulled the rest of my jewels from Tryker and Zorai (heck, it takes days there just to sell one set) and dropped them into Thesos at ever higher prices! I believe I had the big pieces like the tiara (that is what I call it) and the pendant at between 200-300k each.
Now those are certainly high prices. But dam if they didn't start flying off the shelves!
So, the next couple days, my (Haddo's) jewels continue to sell and my own wealth grows. But finally after about 3/4 of all my pieces sold, my guild leader (an awesome guy) gives me a very polite tell to inform me that there is some concern over my reselling prices. This is the first I ever hear of any issues. I was playing many hours each day those jewels were on the market. Yet nobody complained directly to me.
Out of respect for my guild and guild leader, I went to the market and pulled all my jewels back off, then made region announcements for anyone that wanted them to come get haddo jewels for free. I did this for my guild, which I love dearly. So if anyone thinks my guild should be looked at in disfavor, I'll quit my guild and spend all of my ryzom days making yours a living hell. Trust me, you don't want someone that doesn't give a rats but about DP following you around everywhere... lol
Seriously though, I am not confrontational and completely hate angry interactions. I'd simply cancel my account and move on to another MMO.
Sheesh.... sidetracked there.... ok, so did I break haddo's wishes (um.. which I never knew existed)?? Not that I can see. Haddo didn't want people to resell in his market. His market was gone people. All sold out! Hello Pita's market. I moved my jewles that I bought and paid for from Haddo, to the market that wanted it the most. And the market told me how appreciative it was, by sending me a big paycheck.
So here is what I see: A bunch of Dapper rich Homins that were too lazy to go to all the other lands in search of better prices on Haddo Jewels. Did the poor and oppressed spend their life savings on my jewels? Come on, think about it. Do the poor and oppressed buy houses in California? No, they go shopping and find non-inflated, non-gouged, non-opportunistic housing in other states for 1/4 the price of a comparable house in CA.
I swear, I was so angry reading this whole thing. How can so many people not understand economics? How can you even think of branding someone evil for this? Hell, you were gonna linch the wrong person. Lets pause for a moment and read the title of the original post and consider how prophetic they were... Shame on YOU!
You know, after I did what I could to try and fix any decrease in my guilds reputation I may have caused, I get a tell from someone in-game stating that I was KoS now. That just left me sitting on my ass wondering about the sanity of it all. Heck, this was one of my friends telling me this. No "oh hey, you should know that this sort of thing is frowned on", just flat out linching. No judge, no jury. I'm sure by even saying this here, I will insure that KoS will be back in play for me, but so be it. "no good deed goes unpunished"... I like that one
There was a hole in the market... I filled it. My bad.
THere were some posts refering to the mad rush of crafters jumping in to fill the void left by Haddo. Yes, it will get filled. This more than anything is going to upset Haddo. as a marketer, I'll pay 50k for a q170 and resell that, over say 65k for a q190. I buy and sell smart. It is what I love to do. It is what I will continue doing. If you think I am a mean and horrible person, because you don't like purple and I happen to be wearing it, then you certainly have every right to KoS me. After all, the game allows it, yes?
If you are a crafter and you don't have the time (as in Haddo's case) to research all the markets, please give me a tell and I'll be more than happy to help get your products sold all over Atys.
"Looking out for the little guy" is something that can be done in many ways. The only thing I heard in here to back that statement up was: Keoni is littler than me, so in PVP zones, I'll be looking for her... Pita resold top quality luxury goods to homins that considered themselves wealthy enough to pay for them.. she is littler than me so I'll be looking out for her in PVP zones...
My God this all pisses me off!
Not that it matters, but there were several other pieces of Haddo jewels STILL on other markets in other lands the whole time mine were getting bought up in Fryos. So, if you don't like what I offer, please go somewhere else to shop.
Personally, I am much enlightened by all of this. I am considering killing the manager of the next "middle of nowhere" gas stop/convenience store I stop in if they try charging me $3.00 again for a snickers bar. Those *******s! God, forced to buy a snickers at those prices! What is the world coming to!
I'm done and even more pissed. Thanks all for making a fun game feel like a Zerx just shot his wad at me! lol
-Pita
PS.. thanks to all you voices of reason out there and especialy for you that found humor in all of this. The wicked side of me hopes this generates many more good laughs. We certainly all need them

Re: Shame On You!!!
Nice post pita
This reminds me of a little corner shop/convenience store I used to live near (we're talking over 10 years ago here, but the same applies today I'm sure). I remember going in to buy some snacks, and the particular snack I was buying had the 'recommended' price printed on the packaging itself, which we see a lot in the UK market. However, the shop owner had stuck his own little price tag on there, which was a few pence more. I noticed that, and instantly thought 'you sly dog '. However, since I wasn't going to walk 1/2 mile further to get the same snack at a few pence cheaper, I bought it.
I'm not a sucker, and I'm not a fool However, I wanted that snack, I wanted it there and then, and I had the extra few pence to spend on it.
This also comes close to the 'buy 2 get the 3rd free' marketing ploy. By showing you that money can be saved by buying several items, a market can blind you to the fact that you only really need 1 or 2, but hey, since you'll save some money you may as well get the third, you'll use it eventually won't you?
Sales and marketing - they can be filthy and dirty, but everyone needs them
Looking forward to Haddo's responses on this thread
