OOC: I'm always IC, except when I'm not

I'm not going to pollute my own event/recruitment thread (http://www.ryzom.com/forum/showthread.php?t=11008), I would like to clear up a couple of points though:

1) I usually post IC (in-character) except where it is obvious that I'm not e.g. talking about the gfxcard comp, bugs etc. Nobody has to start their OOC posts with such a disclaimer so I don't see why I've got to do so with mine. After all, "Elias", "tidings" and story telling GMs/guides don't prepend their words with IC. I will usually start my OOC posts as I have done this one as these are the minority.

2) "Rashan's Recruits" is a player/guild run EVENT. The tasks have some overlap with a collection of other player run events in the Saga->Arispotle forum. The 'prizes' happen to be entry to my guild but the whole point is that taking part is fun. Think of it as a slightly less boring version of NPC missions which will take a reasonable amount of effort on my part. I'm not really sure how I feel about my post being moved as it is now listed in two places but it does make me look like a forum noob.

how about having posted it both in guilds and RP forum ?
the RP one is kinda empty, and it would prevent ppl from bashing you on sight cause of the lack of <ic></ic> tags

Although my remark about disclaimers was made in ironic jest (which I hope you understood), I do think the point is relevant. Whilst it annoys me when people respond negatively to what are obviously (to me) In-Character posts, I think we have a general problem with mixes of Nationalities here, and the use of English as the main forum language. Another problem is the minority of RP/In-Character players in the community.

It seems this combination (English not the first language, and non-RP player) will always cause certain players to react badly to In-Character posts. For that reason, and to allow everyone to get on without the need for this kind of thread, I think it would be good to place IC (or even In-Character - remember the new MMO players that may be here) at the top of any posts that might generate negative feelings - i.e., someone talking in typical Fyros brashness, or a Matis character (jokingly) insulting the Fyros/Zorai.

I still think the 1st reply to your original thread was downright stupid though - some people around here don't post very much, and when they do their fingers seem to do the thinking. That is the 3rd problem we need to address, but I feel that's much more difficult than the 2 above.

Yeah Dazman, I kind of realised you were being ironic (maybe you need <irony> tags though. j/k) and do appreciate your comments. I'd rather not have to use 'IC' although your points are valid. I just wanted to clarify things (again) for those who still don't "get it". I'll see how it goes anyway.)

Ahh, I love posting in character but just in case people get the wrong end of the stick, when I do I tend to inform them. Just in case. Two letters to save a hell of a lot of hassle? Doesn't seem like a big chore really? Does it?

he he he! I was talking about posting on the board! I talk in character in Around 95% of the time. Region I post in character with the IC tag, Guild only when we're RPing.
