When should I leave kintergarten ?

Post by th1bau1t »

Hi

I've rummaged through the forum , received some advice from a couple of in game folks ... but I have an unanswered question.

I'm currently wandering around the Tryker newbie zone, levelling this and levelling that (no doubt in a manner I will regret later). All my skills are >20 and a couple are in the low 30s. It's been a week here so far and the Goari run away from me (I wish - stupid 64 exp suicide Goari).

When should I exit newbie island and visit the mainland ?

Should I max out the number of missions I do?
Should I have a certain amount of cash ?
Should I have a minimum of 40 forage skill ?

etc etc etc

Thanks for your advice in advance

Imo it depends what you intend to do...

If you are a fighter, then leave as soon as you can kill everything there.
If you are a offensive mage, same as fighter
If you are a healer, its kind of up to you.
As for harv'ers / crafters, I have no idea because I am neither :(

Thats all my opinion though, but I think there was a nice thread in the Player Guides section which looked pretty good; it spelt it all out separately for each "job".

I would say that "I hope to see you on the mainland soon" but I'm Fyros so I doubt I would even if you left as soon as you get this reply ;)

I'd get your primary skill/skills up to 30 odd before moving across.

Sprite has spelled it out pretty well. Your craft/harvest lvl isn't realy an issue. But you will want whichever fight lvl you have to be at least 20, 30 to be safe, before you leave newbie island.

I personally didn't leave til I was lvl 30+, but I was playing it uber-safe.

On the mainland, there are areas which are ok for lvl1-30. So you can leave anytime.

My advice is stay in Starter lands till you are happy with the basics of the game, as long as there are others there starter isle offers you a place to learn.

The XP drops and the HP rise of the same mobs, so its best not to jump ship straight after char creation.

Make sure you have a few dapper in ya pocket, because there are lots of things to buy (items>ql50), packers (.4 mill), mounts (.6 mill), appartment (1 mill). But you can generate money just as fast, if not faster on the mainland.

Leave when you are ready .... and make some new friends and reunite with the ones who left before you.

The mainland is full of helpful people, who if you think you have made a mistake (gone to the mainland too early) will soon have you feeling at home and wishing you can come earlier :D

Between 20 and 30 for your 'main' skills seems to be the norm. As already stated there's stuff you can kill on the mainland even at very low levels, plus of course you've the benefits of having more higher level folks to help you out, and you're far more likely to find a decent guild on the mainland.

It's also a bit of a shock when you first get there and realise how tiny the island is compared to the mainland :-)

Absolutely, once you reach the mainland say hello in Region chat, and ask around for similar-level players to team with :) The trykers are a very friendly bunch, and I'm sure you'll be out enjoying yourself straight away :)

BTW welcome to Ryzom and the world of Atys, and I hope your stay is a long and enjoyable one :)

Look to join a good guild when u get over, there are several in Tryker I know who are very helpful to new guys.

They will help you get started, free items, interest free loans etc that will make it less of a struggle.

Since I was one of the first on server I had to play it very save. So I lvled craft (for self supply) and fight up to 40+ before i left newby land. Didnt bother much about harvest, since i knew it would be easy enough on main land.

Nowadays it might be easier to leave newby land right after character creation. Join a guild, get a Q100 jewel and light armor set and group with any other newby for the first 20-30 levels.
