No mats with good parry modifier - I hate it!

Post by tomimaci »

Well the title says it all... You simple cannot harvest ANY mats with an acceptable parry modifier. None. You can harvest tons of mats with brilliant dodge modifier easily, even in the starter zones. Even getting excellent quality is no big deal, and with a littlle help even superb. Now I am dedicated shield crafter and I spent a whole day balancing the mats for my parper shields. The result? I had to accept that the only thing I can do is to keep the parry modifier of the shields at a minumum acceptable level, and boost the other factors to the maximum while keeping dodge modifier at the minumum (which is useless if you use shields). :( Now you may say this is not a tragedy but for me it is since I am felling useless. I cannot recommend my shields honestly, since I can't offer the maximum possible. Now some may say I should organize hunts to kill named and elite mobs for the mats, since they may drop them. But this is hard because the mobs are rare and hard, not too many people could/would help me. So I may be able to craft good shields for myself and my guild, but this wouldn't make me a shield crafter, since I would be still selling trash for everybody else. I find this situation rather unfair, because digging choice materials are very easy and they are simply the lowest mats to use, so to say standard.
My suggestion would be, either to make some changes amongst the diggable mats, so there would be some mats with good parry modifiers, or the normal mobs should drop choice quality mats too. Uff!

Might help, might not! :)

Best parry mods are generally found of dead creature mat drops.

Things I personally have noticed about parry and dodge.....

When I was just a humble digger and crafter (low in fight skills)....

My dodge was always high .... boosted by armours with good dogde modifiers.

Since I have started to train fight, I noticed that my parry skills improved.

They improved so much as I leveled that I found that my parry skill was now MUCH! higher than my dodge, when I was dressed in Full heavy + weapon in my main fight branch......

I don't know wether you are a mightly fighter or just a humble digger & sheild crafter.

I suggest to you that you find a fighter who is skilled in the ways of 1 handed sword and sheild. As them to find if your shields of parry materials effect thier skills. If you are one of these such fighters, you will be able to test this for yourself.

I have abandoned my ways of dodge in favour of the parry technic ... and I am parrying often enough that my healer is actually able to talk when I am fighting.

Parry main drivers...

1. Char fight skill
2. Weapon
3. Sheild
4. Armour

Hope that helps...

Simple..

::Heavy armor:: use parry

::Light armor:: use dodge

I make my own made max dodge light if you use parry while maging (Nuking/healing) you will just wear your amps out quicker ;)

But your correct main modifier of parry/dodge skill is down to your highest melee level.

Dodge is highest Combat skill including magic
Parry is based on the skill level of the Item you have equiped with Close combat being used if nothing is equiped or a tool or Amps.

But I agree on the Bad selection of Parry high mats.. Something should be done...

Yeps ....

early on ....

lvl 160+ harvest and 50 fight in hvy dodge was still the best to use
now will a much higher fight skill and same hvy set parry is much improved.

dodge is good up to about 60 in fight after that parry is the only useful methord for a tank. Neither are useful if you don't take hits :P

Well I use dodge and I'm high 90s in 2h melee. My dodge currently shows as 99/99 and parry is something like 56/56 - although what that means I aint entirely sure! :)
