Back up a little. First I'm told the rites are bugged. Then I'm told they are level and fame specific. Now you are telling me they are not all implemented?
I think we're jsut guessing at some of these. I know I for one did not wait weeks for the encyclopedia to be added just to find out that only parts of it were. That would annoy me just a tad.
We know for certain that tha barman's quest for the chest of knowledge is bugged - Cerest has stated this. I was able to complete a rite before doing the barman's rite so I know they can be done. I've got the ability to make a race specific weapon now. I have all the small bubbles in 3 other listings and should be able to get rites for them. However, all I get is a blank page from one NPC and I'm ignored by the other ones that claim to be able to give out rites.
If I'm allowed to ask, please PM me the name of the NPC that gave out hte Goari rite on the ATS server. I know what the rite is, and I've completed everything else to qualify for it (unless you need more than 100 fame or over 150 melee). If I'm not allowed to ask, well then all I can do is *whimper*
Rites
Re: Rites
First off the missions the barman gives out is not the same one that you receive the amber cube from. They are two seperate rite missions. Next, the code and functionality of the encylopedia are implemented. All of the rite missions are not. In fact they will never be. The encylopedia is meant to give you information about various story items. This patch opens some of them, future patches will open others. Finally it has been said all along that fame will take a big part in the rite missions. This is not new news.kraegor wrote:Back up a little. First I'm told the rites are bugged. Re: Rites
I can tell you first hand that there are at least 2 other encylopedia entires available. It's been out one day, dont' expect to find them all.thanakar wrote:Don't forget, not all the rites were activated in this patch. Apparently we will get fed small spoonfuls as each Chapter unfolds. Of the four rites I did today, two were bugged an uncompleteable, one was completeable but still bugged since completing it did not update my encyclopedia and one was completeable and worked fine giving me a huge entry into my encyclopedia. So I came away with those 4 rites with +100 focus and one encyclopedia entry. Extensive Q&A on these missions would have found most if not all of the problems currently encountered but then again that would mean that Nevrax would have to reveal more then what they want to , to the testing community on the ATS.
Re: Rites
Uhm, then I am lost. When just some prereqs were implemented, I finished all the prereqs for 3 entries. But next to the big bubble it doesn't tell me who to go to. Do I just stumble around for the givers?
And Raynes, I'd assume that if you could do the prereqs, you could do the rites. (I.E. they'd be adding more themes and not the final rites to them)

Re: Rites
Yes you have to still find the person who gives the rite mission, even if you have the entry and some prereqs done. However if you find the rite giver, they tell you who you have to talk to in order to get the prereq tasks.perrako wrote:Uhm, then I am lost. The easter egg did give those who spent time finding them and advantage. When they find the Rite giver NPC, the prereqs are done. They just have to do the main mission.
And yes I agree that if you can do the prereqs, you can do the rites. I think several things are comming into play as to why people can't get them. First is the amber bug. It might not let you take more advanced missions until that one is done. The second is level, people might not have a high enough level to get the rite. Third is that the rite might be given by a tribe outpost officier, not just the NPC's in the cities. Finally (which I think is the biggest reason), people just don't have enough personal fame.
Re: Rites
I really hope they work on clarification of requirements. I wouldn't really want to spend a ton of time working on fame just to find out it had nothing to do with that. Same goes for any other requirement.
I think the NPCs should reply with things like, "Come back and talk to me when you're bigger," or, "I can only share my knowledge with devout supporters of the Karavan way," to give you information on what requirement you're not meeting.
I feel that the rites and the quest for unlocking the knowledge of Atys should be a core component of gameplay. If it's made too obscure, people may give up because they don't know what to do and don't want to risk the time and effort just to find out they were on the wrong track.

Re: Rites
Raynes - I understand that future patches will add more to the encyclopedia. What it sounds like your telling me is that even though I did work on the 'Easter Egg' and found a lot of the listings, some of those I've already started opening are not implemented yet. This is waht I'm talking about when I say I would be annoyed.
My guild and I have went through and made a listing of every titles NPC in and around Pyr. We added to that list every mission availiable within Imperial Dunes. There are over 200 missions in Pyr and around 150 around it. In doing these missions, I've managed to open about 10 seperate listings. I've gotten four of them complete except for the big bubble. I was able to complete one before doing the barmans rite that allows me to get the chest of knowledge. When I did that rite, I was told it was completed and I recieved fame with a few factions. Then nothing from anyone.
What I'm trying to do is find out if the amber bug is what's stopping me from being able to do any more rites. Cerest says one rite is buggy, talk to the barman. Well guess waht? He won't talk to me anymore. I'd rather not go down the listing of who I've talked to as that might spoil things for some people. I am at my wits end. There is a problem somewhere and it needs to be fixed... Please...

Re: Rites
They do say those things. At least I know they tell you that you can only be access rite missions if you are well known and an asset to the race.aylwyne wrote:I really hope they work on clarification of requirements. Right now they really aren't obscure. You talk to NPCs around the world. Both in cities and tribe outposts. When you find one that has rite mission, they will either tell you why they can't give it to you yet, or they will give you the mission. Once the rite mission giver talks to you, you are told the name of the NPC's that you have to do prereqs for. After you finish the prereqs, you go back to the rite giver and recieve the real mission.
If you read back at what they decribed the encylopedia to be, they said that only the true knowledge hungry Homin will be successful. The idea behind it is that you are suppose to make an effort to meet all the vairous characters in game. The encylopedia and rites are designed so that you learn more about things in game. Tribes have knowledge that no other tribes have. They are happy to teach you, but you have to become trustworthy before they will do that.
Nothing should be handed to the players in this game. If you want to gain knowledge, you have to put some effort into it.

Hmm, then perhaps I'm just running into a bug. My two friends and I talked to a bunch of NPCs in fairhaven that all talked about having knowledge cubes but so far, we've had trouble getting rites or any information regarding why we can't get the rites from them.

Re: Rites
I understand what you are saying, and I don't beleive it is true. I think it's just a matter of finding the NPC that gives the rite mission and having the fame/level requirements to have it open up to you. Remember just because the prereq npc was in Pyr, doesn't mean the rite mission giver isn't in Dryon.kraegor wrote:Raynes - I understand that future patches will add more to the encyclopedia. As for the amber bug, it does not stop you from getting any new rite missions. It might stop some that appear as a result of finishing that one, but it does not stop access to all rite missions. I know this becuase after I hit the amber bug, I went to another NPC (not the barman) and got another rite mission (stupid harvesting one ). I think Cerest was simply trying to tell people to try other NPC's. I don't think she was saying only to try the barman.
Go talk to every NPC you can. There are rite mission givers out there, you just have to put effort into finding them.
