I occasionally have this problem and have had it before patch27. I just keep hitting the direction keys frantically (which also seems to trigger the problem) and eventually something resets.
If you start going anywhere dangerous, try sitting down until you get your direction keys working again.

Re: Is is always this bad?
No, its not always so bad, but maitenance sometimes comes unexpectedly and last longer than expected. Keep checking the general forum and Ryzom home page for heads up on downtime.
But in general its days or weeks inbetween problems.

And don't forget to buy Teleport Tickets before you leave also, or you might not make it back to your homeland for a long while.

Re: Character running speed
how do you find out your FPS, I remember it was on one of the windows during beta, but I am danged if I can find it now, and I went through ALL the windows, even the ones that clearly have nothing to do with performance (like the animals and guild windows). I would be very thankful if you would ...

Re: Character running speed
I have direct evidence that height has no effect on speed, as anyone who groups with us knows. Jinari and Jivalax are identical in almost every way, designed on computers that were sitting next to eachother at the same time to be twins. Their skills are also within a few levels of eachother on ...

Re: EVENT CALENDAR
Thanks Gfunk for opening up your calendar to all. Otherwise I would have missed the Pegasus trip today.
Well, I think I'm still going to miss it assuming its 7pm EST! Too late to ask off from work.

Re: Character running speed
OK, so we got one theory that tallest chars run slower, and the opposite that it makes you faster. FPS is not as likely to be important since we have at least one person getting 30 outside cities. Could it be network connection dependent? We'll have to suggest a Homin marathon race at the next big ...

Re: Character running speed
FPS seems to have an effect on it since people with older graphics cards seem to generally run a bit slower than those with faster ones. I also suspect the height slider affects it, my reasoning is because height adjusts your character animations's speed. Hmmm. Both of those could possibilities ...

Character running speed
During one of the pre-trip classes trips last week (thanks Gfunk) my suspicion that my Matis character runs slower than others was confirmed to be fact. Wearing light/no armor and only a half-full inventory, I was consistently in the last half of the pack as I tried to play catch up and avoid being ...
