Re: STOP IT ALREADY!!!!
I for one, do NOT want to see raids turn into a throw 200 people at a mob, if ANY ONE of these 200 people do not...KNOW their job...and perform that job at PEAK performance...or have ONE microsecond of lag the WHOLE raid wipes. Precisely. That's why EQ is a challenge ... player skill counts ...

Re: If you want to know how hard MMORPGs actually get
You forgot the best part of those raides (well pre-graveyard zones anyway): The 16 hour corpse run when some damm fool aoed the mezzed mobs. Ahh those were fun times. Hmm, I remember spending many work-day nights in the plane of fear dragging corpses 'til 5am then dragging my own corpse to work at ...

Re: If you want to know how hard MMORPGs actually get
Sorry to see you go sir, and hope you the best of luck in finding your game. And if you do come back, feel free to drop me a tell in game =) Will be good to see how things are going. Will do =) About to embark on my Odyssee through EQ2 (damn FedEx, should have arrived by now!) and WoW and will most ...

Re: If you want to know how hard MMORPGs actually get
A max dam/21 h/m pike is a significant disadvantage compared to a max dam/27 (or 31) h/m. Speeds up the killing, making combat faster, and less dangerous. Doubtful. How long do your fights take? Over a minute? No, more like 10 seconds roughly. The difference per fight is 1 swing between 21 and 27 ...

Re: If you want to know how hard MMORPGs actually get
Why kill mobs to get better gear to kill more mobs? Ummm...wasn't that half the point of the upper guilds in EQ constantly killing the same mobs over and over and over? To equip all the guild in the good gear. Yes precisely. To get better gear to be able to survive the next zone/encounter that you ...

Re: If you want to know how hard MMORPGs actually get
Prime Roots, Most borderlands (grove of insanity, scorched corridor, etc) have plenty of high level mobs to kill (and high Q stuff to forage). Just like EQ. There are high level named mobs to kill in each zone. True, but why? There is no reward. And with the new increase in quantity of mats dropped ...

Re: the truth behind the mmorpgs
One thing to add - it is not necessarily about role playing. The people that "role play" in these games are far and few between, and they always have been. You'll especially see that if you look a little further back into the history of MUDS, who, truly were the first "MMORPGS". Well, maybe with one ...

Re: If you want to know how hard MMORPGs actually get
I think the comparison is fair, if you want to compare apples to apples, let's take a look at pre-kunark EQ and Ryzom.
Where is Ryzoms version of Nagafen, Lady Vox, Lower Guk or Solusek B?
Again, no content - even worse than the very first version of EQ1.

Re: Why I Really Like Ryzom- A New Perspective on Matters
Yes, indeed, I am missing what the game is about. Since none of it seems to be in the actual game.daleknd wrote:However, if you think all there was or will be to do was level up and hit the biggest mob then I think you miss the point of what this game is supposed to be about.

Re: Why I Really Like Ryzom- A New Perspective on Matters
And to anyone who is already over level 200 and thinks this game is easy, try rolling a new character and playing it from my perspective for awhile. You'll find LOTS of challenge, lots to overcome, and lots of reward as well! Like...what rewards? What is there the game has to offer? Please ...
