Re: [FAQ] Ryzom in Linux (The Unofficial HOW-TO)

Godbye my fellow Linux users, the time has come to leave Atys. I have been around for a long time, but to be frank , i see in the actions of the new masters of Ryzom an inherent dishonesty and a style of leadership that i have come to recognize and distrust deeply. Been there done that, don't want ...

Re: [FAQ] Ryzom in Linux (The Unofficial HOW-TO)

that look like rpm is hanging... ( since yum i just a wrapper around rpm)
what distro are you running ?

if some kind of RH / FC you could try to delete the rpm db cache,
look in /var/lib/rpm you should find a couple of __db.00x files (x being a number) move them out of there and try again.

Re: [FAQ] Ryzom in Linux (The Unofficial HOW-TO)

wine 0.9.29 is released. And seems to be working ok. one of the things that should be fixed is the handling of commands in bat files. Which means that the patch process might now work directly, i haven't tested that yet , but just in case, next time you patch... please do a backup of Ryzom first ...

Re: [FAQ] Ryzom in Linux (The Unofficial HOW-TO)

Yes the sound works ,in a way, with 0.9.28 but as Blah im running with a soundblaster card, this might make the difference, since it has hardware mixing built in. You really do not need the patch for wine later than 0.2.27, for the sound to work, actually i have not seen that much of a change adding ...

Re: [FAQ] Ryzom in Linux (The Unofficial HOW-TO)

A couple of questions... http://is1.itr.no/~zyrom/linux/doku.php?id=soundpatch On that page, it refers to "the above patch file," but there is no link to any patch as far as I can tell. Ooops should be fxed now. Just upgraded to 0.9.27. This is displayed in the terminal when I start winecfg, and ...

Re: [FAQ] Ryzom in Linux (The Unofficial HOW-TO)

Wine 0.9.27 is out and works very well, it also fixes the "shift, alt, ctrl garbage" problem. EDIT: even sound is working in a fashion, dont know if it will work everywhere but at leas for those of you that have soundblasters or other cards with builtin hardware mixing it should be *usable* not great ...

Re: [FAQ] Ryzom in Linux (The Unofficial HOW-TO)

If you want to have sound you need to patch wine with a thread priority patch. What happens is that the sound driver structure in wine as such a high load that it will choke of the network traffic and you will get disconnected. With the thread priority patch this evens out, but you will need a high ...
