There is a filter setting that allows you to look at ONLY magic amps, or ONLY 2H swords etc and it is possible you have that accidentally set. I found the wood and the amber on a little rise right near the edge/coast of the island, a little way south-east of the flag marker. The wood is right up near the edge, the amber is near it, a bit lower down and closer to the flag.
