Well, I went and bought a power supply. Mine was 4 years old, after all. I got an Enermax 485W one - good quality, spent plenty o' $. So far, Ryzom booted twice in a row and missed twice in a row. So currently, I'm at 50%. Sigh. Will try again in the hopes that the % will go up...

It sounds as though your install did not finish completely. Go to Start > Programs > Ryzom > Uninstall Ryzom. Unfortunately, you may have to start over. It's a pain, as it's a big file and takes a long time. If you have files missing, it likely simply didn't come down fully.
