Re: [FAQ] Ryzom in Linux (The Unofficial HOW-TO)

the alpha for the installer is on my downloads at sourceforge. this is barely working right now (only cabextract install is working on the current download), but I would appreciate it if someone would download it and tell me any errors it gives you. Also, to get it working, you will need your distro ...

Re: [FAQ] Ryzom in Linux (The Unofficial HOW-TO)

lots of delays!! I was working on implementing pythons zip extracting code into the installer, but It was going very slow. It was at this time when it dawned on me why I should have 2x my ram as swap space. So I load up an ubuntu live cd and proceed to try to resize my root partition. I find out ...

Re: [FAQ] Ryzom in Linux (The Unofficial HOW-TO)

^ I did not know that! I will add that then. I also forgot to mention, I'm adding the regular uninstall method using wine's uninstaller for people using wine to install the game. For the cabextract install, the program will just nuke the ryzom directory. Any other suggestions/pointers are greatly ...

http://img376.imageshack.us/img376/2244/snapshot4kn0.png new picture of the installer widget. will be done with it tonight, then all I have to do is duct-tape the download widget and installer widget to the main part of the program, and voila! GUI installer made. A few notes about this. It will ...

does anyone have any suggestions? And yes I plan to get permission from the author of that image before I distribute it as part of a program.

Re: [FAQ] Ryzom in Linux (The Unofficial HOW-TO)

^yes, it nukes the uninstall directory right now, but I'm making the next version target the ryzom uninstaller specifically. As to why I avoid having the actual uninstaller remove the game, it's because the uninstaller is much more unstable than the installer and very crash prone. I'm also working ...

Re: [FAQ] Ryzom in Linux (The Unofficial HOW-TO)

Rally V1.2.2 Beta is here, and it seems to be stable! http://sourceforge.net/projects/rally/ as you can see, I've got this hosted on sourceforge now, and I hope to expand this program to work with other games in linux soon. There are a number of changes from 1.2.1, for example, now Rally detects ...

Re: [FAQ] Ryzom in Linux (The Unofficial HOW-TO)

well, the method is pretty concrete, the big problem is the installer is fickle and sometimes crashes at the very end. It seems to do it randomly too, but thankfully the bug doesn't seem to harm the actual installation of the game.
