Well, I fixed it the hard way.

Due to a totally unrelated issue, my computer died. Now I have a new (used) computer and the game seems to be running much better on this setup.

Assuming you have a seperate router, have you tried plugging your computer directly into the ADSL/Cable line? I'm not on a wireless connection, if that's what you mean. But no, I have not physically moved my desktop computer into the room where the DSL comes into the house and plugged it in there ...

Just thought I'd check in to see if the devs ever got their hands on this issue and if they had any words of wisdom.

And another update. I uninstalled the game and deleted all the directories. I then downloaded the latest and greatest setup (644), installed it, let it pick up patch 1.7.0 and install it. I then restarted the game. 10 minutes to load and run. Woe is me. :-( I have a new log file for you next time I ...

Update following our chat the other day.

Rolled everything off, reformatted the drive, rolled it back on....no joy. Still taking forever.

I'm going to uninstall the game, download a fresh version and install it. Let's see what happens then.

I reboot before I play, I keep my hard drives defragged, I'm not running on a super wahoo game machine but it ain't a dog, either......what's the dang deal?

I also run IOBIT's Game Booster, which shuts down unneeded services, etc.

An update: I made the changes suggested and the load time has now gone up to 7:38. Mongo not happy camper.
