Re: Free Ryzom Campaign

It means we might see several specialised Ryzom projects in the future, and also total modifications and Linux/Mac clients. Not necessarily a bad thing, is it? Unix and Macintosh clients are not bad, nope. Several specialized Ryzom projects most definitely will be as it will further fragment the ...

Re: Free Ryzom Campaign

The easiest way to tame complainers: give them responsibility... when you are actually making the decisions, things look different :) Hah, and precisely *that* is why I think I can a bit less optimistic. From the moment I set foot on Ryzom I've been filing a variety of bugs I spotted (just ask ...

Re: Free Ryzom Campaign

you can put it in GPL or LGPL, but what's behind that (c) ? IANAL. Why not put it in the public domain? etc? or the fact that there will be one server, three languages, x players.... without mentioning that one could guess no new developments in a few months / years. Personally, the one interesting ...

Re: Free Ryzom Campaign

The Free Ryzom Project is aimed to become a democratic organization. One thing I learnt by now spending a lot of time on various MMORPG fora is that its users almost *never* agree on things, so to speak of democratic is laughable at best. When changes get in effect people start to shout 'nerf' and ...

Re: Any update on the status?

That Ryzom.org site is cute, but for all the open-source calling that's on there I miss the most important issue: hosting. Hosting is not free and the bandwidth needed for MMORPGs is not a triviality. And if it is open source, who will be the 'official' Ryzom since by its nature it could fork ...

The represent a unique roleplaying challange, becuase of their fixed masks hiding their facial features and their "spirituality".
Glad I picked Zoraï. :D

Re: Total frickin' newb

8 character account name limits make me sad. I'm nightrunner. Yeah, I wondered about that. There's no technical limit for this sort of thing anno 2006. This is my first MMO ever. Well, I've played like an hour of Guild Wars at PAX this year, and played about an hour of WoW on Saturday at a friend's ...

Re: Untamed Nightmare

't Was a pity it didn't quite start as it should. :) The scenario wasn't visible in the ring terminal list. And for some reason when getting in on the scenario about half the people got disconnected. It seemed like fun, when we finally reconnected. Just had a bit of a problem in the delivery. Kitins ...
